Does smoking cause more empty spaces in your lungs?

    We know smoking enlarges the lungs. But does it also hallow out the lungs while it is being enlarged over time? It seems like my voice has gotten louder over the years because the respiratory system has gotten bigger or something. Like a drum makes loud sound cause it is hallow.
