Does my fan always need to be on?

    Hello friends, im setting up a grow tent, i got a big ol fan with a carbon filter set up. Anyways the thing is loud, does it always need to be on? Or should it be the same as my light cycle? Thanks

    It should be on all the time. you can get a fan controller to dial it down

    Gotcha, mine has a controller but even on low it seems loud

    Insulated ducting helped me, only around £20

    I mostly run my fan/carbon filter at about 60% using a Variac controller. It is highly incremental which is great for speed choices.

    Yep fans are loud, even the 'quiet' ones. One thing that may help is try to eliminate as many bends in your ducting as possible. Straight line is best, every bend adds noise and reduces fan efficiency.
