Does LST methods stunt height

Discussion in 'Plant Training' started by MaryJaneCy, Jun 10, 2019.

  1. Just wondering whether i should let my plants grow to their potential height or a decent height and then bend the stem over? Can someone explain how this LST method works, Does it stop the height? Should it be done when the plant is tall?

  2. LST
    LST absolutely will reduce the height of your plant.
    The plant wishes to grow vertically... like a tree.
    The branches on top will, eventually, be the only colas to receive light... and grow.
    When you LST, you induce the plant to grow horizontally... exposing more possible cola sites to light.
    THEN, the colas start to grow vertically.
    I have a beginner's journal of a grow that includes my efforts at LSTing.
    I hope it helps;
    No one cares, I tell ya!

  3. You want to start when your plant is young stem is easier to start bending less likely to snap off

  5. You're on the right track (soil looks good, btw). Topping forces branching, LST directs growth, and super cropping sort of combines both. My up and comer here has had all three approaches applied.

  6. Lst does not stunt growth. It just forces the plant to grow in the direction you want it to. However the plant will fight back and still try to grow towards the light. However it does not stunt the growth, just changes the direction of the growth

  7. Lst does the same thing as topping in regards to making new tops/branches, only better. When you top the main cola is removed so only the next 2 nodes become tops.

    When you lst every node along the bent branch becomes a new top, not just 2 like topping does. The best benifit is you dont have to remove an already formed top

    Here's a result of fimming on one of my plants. I've fimmed it again & I'm also training it to grow more branches down now. Any tips? I'm eager to learn
