Does lifting your arms after you have inhaled smoke help you to hold in more smoke?(lifting your arms like a double bicep pose).

I know it helps me prevent coughing...so whenever I feel I am gonna cough or start coughing due to a huge hit...i lift my arms(I also saw this in the movie 50/50 when seth rogan tells this to joseph gordon lewitt).

My question is that will it also help to hold in more smoke?since I am able to hold the smoke for around 10-15 seconds easily (when my arms are lifted after inhaling )while I am only able to hold it for 3-4 seconds when being in a normal pose.

could it be bad like me trying to avoid coughing and getting injured or cracking a rib accidentally???

  2. I feel like this is just you being high thinking it works when really your brain is just fucking with you

  3. Why are you holding in your hits for 15 seconds? And if one of my friends started doing that during a smoke sesh we would rag on him for being so weird

  4. I don't think it would help to hold in smoke as that method i believe only allows more to enter the lungs. Capacity would be strictly based on lungs i believe.

  5. i think this is a good theory because when I was a kid my mom always made me put my arms up if I started coughing and shit. (not from smoking, I just mean like any time I started coughing)

  6. holding in the smoke allows more of it to be absorbed so I end up exhaling less therefore more the high :)

  7. how can I be high even before my first hit dude??
all I am asking is whether its bad or not..
BTW you should try it and lemme know how much time you could hold it normally in your lungs and how much time you could hold it with arms lifted up.

  8. I aint smoking after a long time...I toke regularly...so i dont think so its placebo

  9. Nope. There are no muscles in the arm that will affect the lung fuction

  10. I think OP means not restricting your lungs from fully inhaling. I.e, being hunched over wouldn't allow you to inhale as well as you could while standing up :)

  11. Exactly. It's the same concept as when I used to do sprints in sports I would play. My coaches always told us to put our hands on our head afterwards instead of hunching over trying to catch our breathe. It just gives you better posture so you breathe better.

  12. I get it, idk about holding it in longer when your arms are up but the longer you hold in the smoke the higher you get. Thats why when Im low on weed , when im taking hits I hold em in for a while ahah gets me fadeddd.

  13. Technically, since putting your arms above your head opens up your lungs and allows more airflow through.....it seems plausible that it would allow you to hold your hits in for longer than normal. I personally haven't tried it, but I know it stops me from coughing almost every time.

I try to hold in hits as long as I can. Sometimes I'll 'pass' a hit to my bf (kissing him and he sucks the smoke through my mouth), and we'll pass it back and forth the same hit and we'll both get high off it, which is fun. And great when we don't have a bunch of bud. :)

  14. Im going to go against everyone and say yes, it will help. Not because of any chemical activation but because with your arms over your head, you can hold more "air" in your lungs. Im a soccer player for 11 years and whenever we run; to recover you can lift your arms over your head to inhale more oxygen. SO yes; you could probably take in more smoke with your arms over your head. :)

  15. I know that holding your arms over your head when you're out of breath helps you catch your breath quicker, so maybe it's got some effect with smoke too. Oh well not like it matters haha

  16. It slightly increases lung capacity because it creates more air space for your lungs, bigger airways aswell.

Back when i was younger and when asthma medication wasnt as available i would do this to recover from attacks faster and i can say it personally works
