does god think weed is bad?

oh dear, here's another thread about god.

yes, as ipack has pointed out, and i shall elaborate further on, there are many religious texts which exhonerate the herb.

i'd doubt "god" thinks anything is "bad". surely "god" would be far beyond such paltry judgementalisms. eep, sorry if that offends some peoples idea of god.

if we are all part of "god" and have access to our own "god head", then if you think something is a gift, then god thinks its a gift.


yeah, genesis says it, and ezekiel has more about it, and i'm sure theres bits in mark and luke and a dozen others too... and thats just the bible. to many hindus, particularly those who consider themselves shivites, consider the herb to be a teardrop from shiva.... or something to that effect. rastafarians... obviously, and, the church of universal life use it as a sacrement also. there are, like i said before... many.

but what of ourselves? it is a question we must ask ourselves, not other peoples ideas. other people's ideas are really only there to convince others who would not accept your own decision or ideas on the matter.

But really now, does it matter if we ponder whether God thinks weed is "bad" or "good." You'll really get nothing out of it except confusion, so just stick to whatever you want to think.

Well this depends on what your beliefs are and how you interpret the bible.

Some will tell you that it is an indulgence and an intoxicant and that it's wrong (as they'll say about alcohol).

Others will tell you that it is a gift from god and he wants you to use every facet of his creation.

So yeah -- pretty much you decide.

 

I've asked people this who are religious, and they stated that God says your body is your temple. You must not do anything to weaken it. Which means, smoking is most likely out of the question, but then again so are tattoos, piercings, etc. But then again it's all about how religious you individually are.

 

I did not know the CUL used it in anything. Really? I'm just so curious because I've been a Reverend for quite a while now, and I hadn't even heard of this. That's great, though.

The funny thing i noticed about God. I dont so much fear him as i fear his crazy ass followers. And I dont just mean the Christians. Its not what god thinks, its his stupid ignorant, scared, dumb shit zealous followers that i worry judge me. This herb has been vilified by the Government and Church, our fellow citizens have no idea what they are buying into when they fall for the social stigmas that are associated with any free thinking behavior that falls outside of their religious principles. God created everything to serve his purpose... So yes, he could very easily create something he hates. Evil for one, however that is a whole other topic of discussion. The question being asked is, does God think weed is bad?

My short answer is going to be a "no"... For anyone who doesn't wish to read the long version, feel free to ignore the rest of this ramble.

Genesis 1:29:
"And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."

Now obviously we can't eat every seed bearing plant on the face of the Earth, some of them aren't that good for us, however it does say that we are given every herb/tree bearing seed so I am inclined to believe that we are allowed to use them in any manner which could benefit us. I do believe weed benefits us, in many ways and don't worry I won't list 'em out, I'm sure we all know.

If you agree that alcohol is worse than weed, than you need only look to Jesus who didn't shun alcohol or those who drank it like some fundamentalists would have you believe. It's not a clear cut example of anything weed related, but if one condones the moderate use of alcohol then would not one condone the moderate use of nearly anything? Everything should be used/taken in moderation... God states in the Bible that you are to follow him and no other.

Matthew 6:24:
24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Mammon could be defined as riches, or most probably, anything. You cannot serve God if money/women/men/dogs/trees/cats/birds/your job/etc.. etc... controls your life, The whatever-it-is in and of itself is not the problem, it is the power that you give it (i.e. making it your master) that is. Do you make weed the #1 thing in your life? Does it rule you, is it your master?

To sum up... I would surmise that God does not believe weed to be a bad. If you allow weed to master you, that is your choice not the weeds, eh? (Not that I am saying you, or anyone else does.)
