Does Food Decrease High?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by TheJourney, Oct 3, 2012.

  1. This is a topic I'm pretty interested in, but am having a hell of a time finding 'real' information about it on the internet. I find various people saying various things, but haven't seem to come across anything concrete.

If you eat before, or after, you smoke...does that have any effect on the level, or duration, of your high? If so, what kind of effect?

  2. I'm curious too. Did you do a Google search btw?

  3. Subscribed, I'm interested. :D

  4. On google, I mostly get a bunch of random people saying things like, "Well, it seems like it does, but that might just be me, or because i expect it to."

  5. I don't care if eating shortens my high. Eating is just the best when your baked. Then a quick bong hit for dessert.

  6. I found it just mellows out the high

Probably just me though. Then again, I vape and the high lasts much longer for me whilst vaped than when I combust

  7. I usually don't eat for a while because I feel like it decreases my high. Could be something to do with digestion or blood sugar.

  8. i tend to blaze after eating like a good half hour maybe that way your not getting the munchies as bad till your coming down anyway then if your not too sleepy fill your face man

  9. Well for me(Lol guess I'm not giving concrete facts but whatev), if I feel I'm too high to talk to a police officer if need be and I have to drive then I just get a little to eat and it mellows the high.

  10. It's not that food decreases your high, it's that when you get the munchies, you tend to eat A LOT of food, your body reacts by getting sleepy. I never felt eating food to kill my high, as long as I don't eat a lot of food.

  11. i think i get higher if i don't eat before i smoke, but fuck, i love cooking and eating when i'm high; being high makes eating more enjoyable for me.

  12. Well, the other night I tried smoking and eating right after I smoked...I was high as fuck, and stayed high for quite a long time. I too have, before, noticed that when eating a while after smoking the high seems to go away quickly.

That being said, I have a possible theory. Perhaps, when you smoke and then eat a while after, towards the end of when you are peaking, or as you are just starting to come down, the feelings associated with eating are felt. Since you're just starting to come down anyways, your focus shifts from the high onto the feelings generated from eating, and therefore the high 'goes away.'

  13. I feel like when im really stoned then i eat a huge meal i feel a little less high

  14. This theory only applies in that one instance, "when you smoke and then eat a while after, towards the end of when you are peaking" and does not necessarily apply towards the various desires of the average toker, i.e someone who enjoys eating immediately after combusting, as opposed to your scenario of munching down towards the end of the peak.
