Does dry weed mean less thc?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by jewbrees, Feb 17, 2010.

  1. So heres how it went down.

My dad comes in my room the other day just to say whats up, and says it smells like bud in here. I never smoke in my room, he just smelt the dank in the air. So of course I acted dumb and he bought it. So right as he left to go somewhere, I put my eighth in this container of coffee beans that had been sitting in my room for months. The weed was only singled bagged, which was a bad idea. Fast forward a week, and I decide to smoke a bowl to help me sleep. Well as I pull out my bag, the buds have noticeably shrunk. I opened it up and grabbed one, and i could basically flake it up in my fingers. They were soooo dry and dense. So I put an orange peel in there. Now i'm gonna wait an hour. Does the dry weed mean dead thc and less potency? thanks guys

  2. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe its still fine.

  3. ok because one of my friends is telling me that when buds get too dry the trichomes basically disintegrate?

  4. weed is meant to be smoked when its dried out.. so no its not true

  5. Kind of. It just means it will burn faster and hotter and will destroy more THC during the smoking process.

  6. i think your good as long as its still fresh, not molding.

  7. This guys got it. The THC doesn't disappear when it gets bone dry, its still there but it will be a harsher smoke

  8. Your weed did dry out, and it is less potent. Weed can go stale just like anything else. it is best to keep your weed in an air tight jar in the dark so it stays fresh. Air and sunlight can break down thc and cause weed to get shwagggy.

  9. do tupperware containers work?

  10. Well dryness is usually caused by improper storage.
What does desintegrate cannabinoids are air, light, and extreme temperatures.

So always store bud in an airtight container in a cool, dark, and dry place.
A mason jar(the kind with a 2 part lid) that is stored in a place such as a dresser or desk drawer is ideal.

  11. i've been told the freezer is the best spot. haven't done my research someone tell us.

  12. Ive heard that too. But ive also heard its the worst spot. It freezes that shit and the thc falls off a lot easier. Unless your trying to make some hash.

  13. I bought some dry ass shit $100 for 18 grams.

its green in color and gets me high though so im happy.

  14. yeah i guess if you want a lot of kief.. freeze it and grind it up frozen :þ

who knows though we're just speculating..

  15. Best place to store is in a mason jar in a pretty dark, cool place. But ya, dry bud is just a bit harsher, but will have the same potency as when you bought it, assuming you haven't been handling the product too much.

  16. my stuff tends to get a little dry too, and i keep it in airtight jars in a cabinet...i still have a few nugs left of my first oz pickup back before thanksgiving. and it still gets me blasted...just brittle

  17. weed is not meant to be smoked bone dry

  18. If it sits for a year like that then maybe some degradation but short term, not an issue.
