Does CBD and/or THC build tolerance to D8?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Ultrarunner2020, Nov 2, 2021.

  1. Hey guys;
I've been taking a full-spectrum CBD gummy since July. This particular blend has 50mg CBD + 5mg THC + other compounds one would expect to find in a full-spectrum CBD product.
While I understand that the amount of THC in the gummies is very small, I am curious to know whether even this small amount could develop a tolerance to D8 THC.

Reason I ask is that yesterday I ate my first D8 gummy. It was 25mg, but I took it in two doses - 2hrs apart.
Since I had never used D8 before, I took the advice given by experienced users and cut the 25mg gummy in half so I got only 12.5mg per dose.
I took my first 12.5mg dose of D8 at about 18:00 - which was in-between meals. I then ate supper.
After 2hrs I wasn't feeling much effect, so I took the other half of the gummy. So I took 25mg over 2hrs.
About an hour after the 2nd dose, I began to feel quite good. Buzzed, but not particularly 'high'. I went to bed at about 22:00 feeling good, and had some pleasant sleep.

So my real question is whether I have already built up a tolerance to D8 by consuming small amounts of THC (probably D9) along with the CBD I have been taking for 4 months.

I did not take any D8 today - decided to enjoy a couple of craft beer brews with high ABV, so didn't want to mix alcohol and D8 just yet. I do take CBD following a couple of beers, and it seems to help mitigate the 'compression' I experience after the alcohol buzz wanes.
But I am planning to take 1/2 a 25mg D8 gummy tomorrow morning immediately after breakfast (about 08:30), as I am not going to drive anywhere. I will again wait 2hrs before deciding whether I want to take the 2nd half of the gummy.
I don't really know what to expect - that is the reason I am taking smaller doses to start.
Just for reference, my current supply of CBD gummies (and a bottle of oil) were purchased from FiveCBD.
My bag of D8 gummies were purchased from 3CHI.
I also have two bags of CBD chocolates from FiveCBD on order. Those contain 50mg CBD + 2mg THC per square. I plan to put a square into my French Press brewed coffee (very strong joe), but will probably eat a few of them straight as well.

Thanks guys; Sorry for the wordy post. I am trying to become a writer...

  2. I don't know but I'd guess since you only took small doses you may have developed a small tolerance but not enough to matter. Since D8 is supposed to be about half as potent as D9 your 12.5mg of D8 probably didn't work much better than the 5mg of D9 you were getting in the CBD. I'd take the whole 25mg.

  3. Pure THC is to raw, intense, sharp, edgy, jittery.
A little CBD takes the edge off and mellows the ride.
To much CBD and it prevents the ride from happening at all.

Inhaled Delta-8 is a softer stone then Delta-9.
Eaten your Liver treats -8 and -9 the same and converts both into the much stronger 11-Hydroxy-THC.

Tolerance is a personal thing. Some claim edibles build it fast. I find just the reverse to be true. I can't take it every day. I need to skip a day every 7 to 10 or I wind up to hammered to function.

Using a high amount of Lecithin to Oil acts to improve bioavailability and really cranks up both strength and duration. 1/6th to 1/4.

  4. Very interesting; the biochemistry involved here. It's far too complex for me to understand, but I do get that everyone is different when it comes to things like this.
I took a 25mg gummy this morning immediately after breakfast (unsweetened shredded wheat w fresh banana & raisins + milk, and a rather strong cup of joe).
It took nearly 2 hours for me to feel any effects, which were quite mild. The peak of effect was about 4hrs, then began to diminish.
I was not 'stoned' - just a bit more relaxed (lower anxiety) than normal for me.
Comparing the 25mg D8 with 50mg full-spectrum CBD (50mg CBD + 5mg THC), I would say that the D8 does a better job at relieving the anxiety.
Perhaps over the next few days I will try combinations of the two.
