Seems like an alright job, besides coping so much shit Anyone had any experience or know anyone that has?
I was a security guard for about a year. It was an easy job. I spent most my time on grasscity. I would walk the building every hour to keep myself from being too bored. Also worked a bunch of high school football games. I did enjoy not having a boss around. What type of security are you looking into?
Sounds awesome, I don't really know/care. I'm moving to portland and I'm looking at no experience jobs while i go to college. Ive seen a lot of security guard ones, most sound like what your describing, how much did you get paid?
My mom worked loss prevention for some company and got me a job as a security job at one of their warehouses. I didn't get drug tested. I just sat on my ass for 7 hours a day watching Mexicans drive fork lifts on CCTV. Boring as shit...tried listening to NPR...too liberal/boring as shit.
That's what I'm doing right now lol. Just chill in a big empty building, walk around every 2-3 hours, otherwise mostly chill and watch netflix or whatever. They have a workout room and pool table too but pool kinda got boring. $11/hr.. no drug test but a lot do.
I worked at a lab doing overnight shift easiest job ever seriously crunched out hwk and watched mad tv shows easy job. Only thing that sucks is nobody gives a fuck about security guards lol
I've done the training and been certified - though at the time I got my certificates I ended up getting a job elsewhere so I didn't bother applying for a certificate any more...probably should have...as I might be doing the course again soon. So yeah I have no experience really, though it can be a great job IMO. Like someone else said, control room type roles, and "manning" areas with occasional patrol would be pretty cruisy. Though then there's doorman pub/club work, I'd never do that as I'm not an actual giant, and hate dealing with drunk fuckwits. Event security would be similar to that, but probably not AS bad. You can go with personal security, that pays quite well but you'd need experience and references - and the jobs are fewer and further between. I would like doing centre security - yknow, for nice buildings or shopping complexes - you get to deal with a wide range of people and get varied tasks...spend a lot of time on your feet too. If I get into it though, I'll probably continue my studies while I work and eventually look into security set-up and/or consulting work, that's where the crazy money is. Here, you need to attend a 3 week course for certification in order to get licensing - The license is provided by part of the Police service, and a background check is performed. They throw in First Aid and and RSA certificate as well. Not sure how it works where you live.
They did a background check on me, but my dad knows the owner so... not armed or anything either so I don't think they care that much. No I only work 2 overnight shifts, haven't worked here long
Around south eastern New Mexico its anywhere from $10 to $23. Just depends on what your watching over.
For the most part the company just Trains you. At the Prison i had to be certified by the state and i was only paid $13.24 an hour.. then places like a mall or halliburton pay around $11 an hour. But we have a uranium enrichment facility that pays 23 dollars an hour and they were just looking for people with experience in security tho they wanted extensive experience.
