does anyone think text messaging is getting out of hand?

  1. Im texing i will get back to you.

  2. Damn you sound like a really depressed person. Why dont you want to strike up a conversation with someone in between classes? You say you have no friends that would text you, maybe that's because you don't allow them to get in your life?

  3. i hate having important conversations over text message.

i would much rather talk on the phone than text. but that could be because i dont have a qwerty phone.

  4. I'm the exact opposite. I like to think about what I'm gonna write.

  5. yea i think my best friends addicted

when ever his phone goes off for a message hes on the move for it... and if he has to walk he walks fast, i can see the difference.

    lol.

  7. I find texting pretty much pointless. Why sit there and spends an half an hour texting back and forth when you could just call someone and be done in 5 minutes? Granted its kinda handy when you just need to tell someone something that doesn't require a whole conversation, but that's about it.

Then again I got rid of my cell phone because I got tired of people constantly calling and texting me all day and night.

  8. I remember when people started texting, and I said to myself "this shit is stupid, I'm never going to text".

Of course things changed since then, but I still don't text that much. Especially being on a pay-as-you-go plan in Europe.

But yeah, texting has created a whole new type of annoying person and a new danger to driving

  9. I can skateboard and text, walking straight and texting is nothing I guess I just have good coordination. But I don't even pay attention to my phone when driving, I hate seeing people text and drive.

  10. I have a strict policy when it comes to this: Call my home phone and if I don't answer leave a message and I'll get back to you.

I'm not going to become socially retarded because it's easier than actually talking to someone.

But that's just my opinion, some people prefer texting and as long as they aren't interfering with another person's life it's fine by me.

  11. i just got a new phone with a keyboard so i've been texting more. it doesnt really bother me that so many are always texting

    excuse the racism

  13. I always pretend I'm texting between classes but I'm really just flipping threw my porn photos.

  14. Yup.

It can be rude in the case of company, obsessive and smothering in terms of relationships, and foolish to attempt while in motion.

    However, they can be convenient.

    Converse! Talk with, not to!

  15. I am slightly guilty of this...

I usually only whip out my phone when I'm not immersed in conversation. I don't pay attention to it in lectures either...

I dunno, most of the time it's me just trying to coordinate a sesh with someone, or I'll be trying to buy weed.

  16. At my going rate of 300 texts per day, I enjoy texting. I'm on my phone most of the day. I'm a narcisstic jerk.

  17. i dislike talking on the phone and i HATE texting.

i would've never thought it would catch on...

  18. i do this occassionally, but its usually while im walking to class and mainly so i dont make eye contact with people and no one tries to bum a cig hahaha! also now that i started college i actually have peple to txt now that most of my friends are dispursed across the country.

  19. Maybe I just think about it too much. My last phone pissed me off to the point where I broke it in two and had to get a new one. My only request was a phone WITHOUT a QWERTY keyboard on it because I think people look like idiots when I see them texting on it. It's hard these days to find a quality phone without a QWERTY keyboard. Almost every phone has one nowadays.

Oh well, whatever. Thanks for all the responses:)
