  1. Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if any of you experience problems when switching strains of MJ? Or Even smoking more than usual (like an extra bowl in the day) ? Problems that start a couple/few days after a switch..Such as 4 days of bad depressive symptoms, irritability, Anger, crappy sleep and not too much of a good effect from the new stuff until days later. Then all is great and balanced. I unfortunately do :confusedalt: . And although I smoke daily, its maybe 4-5 tokes in the evening (unless Im being a gluten for punishment) .It happens with sativa /indica/hybrid. This keeps me from taking a toke of my friends bowl and makes me dread having to restock on more because you can never get the exact same. I have a love hate relationship with MJ, and this is one of the HATES !
    Anybody else?

  2. I'm "gladly", after reading your post, happy to say I do not have that problem. Sucks :passing-joint:

  3. Nah the only thing that happens when I switch strains is flavor & how high it gets me lol

  4. If you are medical dial it in.
    Indica indica indica

  5. Ok. Well thanks all for your responses . I think it may be a sensativity due to also being on head meds .
    Thanks

  6. For the first several years of Prop 215 here in CA, switching strains was not optional because very few dispensaries had the same strain menu for more than a month. Most menus changed weekly or daily. It's gotten better in recent years.

I've never had any particular problem changing strains, in fact I've found that doing so keeps the tolerance monster guessing. The biggest hassle is readjustment for THC content. Just take it slow with any new strain and give it a full hour (whether smoked or eaten) to gauge its potency and effect.

  7. I usually smoke 4 hits in the evening spaced out 2 hours. So its pretty slow going. I asked the budtender at my dispensary if they had any strains they all ways keep . She said not really and that every batch is slightly different from the last one anyways (although the thc content may be the same).

  8. I would quite if that was the case. Fortunetly it's not a problem for me

  9. I'm in the same kinda boat, but slightly confused on all this. I can't seem to find a strain I remember feeling good with. I want my whole body to feel it, not just a head trip. I have not been impressed with the stuff I have tried so far, but it's all been Sativa. Maybe I need to try another strain until I find something to enjoy. This Sativa stuff just gives me like headaches and dizziness. Weird. I never got that with stuff off the streets, which was amazing. lol Hmmm...what the heck are they using these days? lol

  10. If you don’t feel well using it, don’t use it.

You don’t have a very good bud tender imho.

Google “what is the best strain for _________”

  11. OhioDude, the general and well known cannabis rule is sativa = head high and indica = body high. After four decades of smoking I still have no idea what a body high is, but it sounds like you're looking for indica strains. Your luck with them might be better than mine. I get a few hours of head high followed by 6-8 hours feeling like I'm living life with my face in a pillow.

  12. Yes, quitting seems like the obvious answer, and I have done so many times (which really sucks dealing with 1.5 months of shitty insomnia). The problem is it acts like an anti-depressant (when not changing anything). before smoking I was always mildly depressed. When I started smoking I was more "normal" and saw what my potential could be (plus it offsets the side effects from the pharmaceuticals) . When I quit I get depressed again and worse because I know I can be "normal" with it. Most things take more effort (not enough gas in the mental tank), concentration is more difficult. So MJ is the best med for me where no other has done that. FYI after a couple weeks of smoking I dont really get "high", it just balances me out. Very frustrating, shitty choices either way.

  13. Full on sativa is awsome for me... I built abunch of furniture, picture frames , I could tackle any fix it , build it problem. Get alot done (not hyper). But it causes more and heighten anxiety. So I moved to hybrid... now hybrid leaning indica thinking that when I do quit AGAIN it may be an easier withdrawal (jury's out on that one). In California we have had medical and now recreational , they have to say whats in it so no additives.

  14. The bud tenders are just Sales people. Before recreational I would ask questions about problems I had and they just said they havent heard of it (they didnt want to tarnish the use of it). Plus its so different for everyone that its hard to put a finger on.

  15. Indica is the body high and couch lock mostly. However I may have felt ok all over, it just chilled me out but still stimulated enough to be productive.

  16. That sounds like everything that happens while you're smoking by the way you explained it. If I was you that would only give me more reason to quite. Atleast in a month and a half you'll be able to sleep.

I've been a heavy smoker for over 40 years and take breaks at times. I never have any of those side effects. Don't let your mind get to you.

  17. EveryOne I talk to doesnt have these problems either. I think the issue may be elsewere. And Yes quitting sounds like the answer, but the depression sucks. The longest Ive gone without smoking was 3.5 months. Maybee I need to give it longer to see if the depression improves .

  18. Switching strains gives you depression according to your original post. To be honest with you, you sound like an alcoholic making excuses/reasons for getting drunk last night

If something is negatively affecting you it's not the answer to your problems. It compounds your problems and this post is a fine example of it. Weed can enhance feelings you already have or help depending on the person and how weed effects them. It might help one peraons depression while adding to another's. Your depressed with or without weed by the sounds of it. Unfortunerly you dont seem to be one of the people it helps. Maybe it's time to seek help elsewhere.

  19. The mild depression that I get when I dont smoke is common for people with ADD. Smoking balances us out. It stimulates the prefrontal cortex of the brain and helps concentration so life is better, (more like "everyone else"). The constant lack of concentration makes doing things in life more difficult and it wears on a person because we have to work harder to achive what is easier for people without. Hence the mild depression. And this has been so wayyyyyy before I ever smoked. MJ is the BEST "anti-depressant" I have found.
But what Im talking about is the switching of the strain when I run out, is a temporary issue. It is some kind of a chemical withdrawl, that has "depressive symptoms ". It is a symptom of that chemical withdrawl or change that Fortunate people are free to do whatever with no consequence. You can never get the same EXACT strain (a BudTender told me each batch is slightly different) so switching isnt a choice. My post is to see if there are others with this BS issue and if so, what they may have found out about it. Mine is just a guess
