It seems like lately dial-up internet has basically died off. I was just curious to see if there anyone on these forums still stuck in the 90s when it comes to their internet connection.
Thats funny my parent's home had dial up for the longest time, broadband just finally came through for them.
Dial up is still around even!?? Wow i've used the internet in freakin Cambodia and they even have high speed internet! hahaha
My parents only get 31.2Kbps service. Whenever I go out there to visit, I just plug in my cell phone and tether over cellular because it's actually faster, (128Kbps via cellular connection, [EDGE network], {if HSDPA is ever there, it will be up to 1.44Mbps}).
I don't know anyone on dial-up either... But on another note, I heard Comcast is gonna offer 100mps Internet!!! That's like fuckin 12 Megabytes a second! Holy shit! When I first got into computers, I was 12 and was calling BBS's. This was before the PUBLIC internet (1992). I was connecting at 2400baud, which is .24 Kilobytes a second! Nuts!
If the FCC gets thier way, everybody will have available 100Mbps service by the year 2020: FCC to propose faster broadband speeds - International Business Times -
