So I've heard, read, and watched(YouTube) that when a plant has a bigger pot it grows more roots and that when your plant has more roots you grow bigger buds. How true is this? Also what is the ideal size for a pot in comparison to how big you want your plant to grow. Obviously we're talking about indoor but if you have tips for outdoor growers let's hear them!
A big pot is just a part. U still need everything else, lights, water, soil, growth takes time, big plants need big space, etc.
Do you have a preference of a specific size of pot for indoor grow? I have a 8'x5' grow room with 12ft walls.
not sure what size i am growing in at tthis grow ,but its not that big but around 8lts ,reason for that theres not much head room for my plants indoors so i keep them low ,,,it works for me ,,if i used bigger pots i would have the height they would grow ,i just like keeping my plants small and low ,but if i was growing outdoors and not putting the plants inside under lights etc ,i'd use a much larger pots ..mac.
Vertical ht is 1 of my limiting factors, floor space is another, big pots take up more floor space & lose a bit of vert ht. Look at last grows roots, did they fill up the pot? Too crowded? If yes go bigger. Then there's the how many pots to use, less pots then U can lst them more & wider less plants will + bigger ones (more room to grow). It's a give & take & kinda up to you. 4- 6 gal pots with 5gal of soil (room 4 a top dress or 3) This time around I think.
Makes sense. So your 8 liters is 2 gallons. Same size I use. How tall do you let your girls get?like, how tall are they the day before harvest?just trying to do comparisons to my grow.
Well I stick my ladies in a 2gal pot. I kinda wanted to see what difference it made because prior runs I had 1 gal pots. And the difference was about 1/2oz of dried flower per plant.
Last grow I overcrowded & overwatered some of the 9 plants went over the light with 2 scrogg nets, This time only 6 plants & 1 scrog net they only got to app 3+feet & look like true & proper indica's. Don't expect each grow to go the same, or even that clones from the same plant will grow the same. I doubt much I do is "the same" grow to grow as I'm always trying something new. (still learning)
in my experience, more roots do not make for bigger buds, but they make for more bud sites. Buds are already too big for the plant to even support and too big buds are more susceptable to mold. The indoor challenge is light not size. The plants get too big for the light footprint. I've grown in one gallon all the way to 15 gallons indoors. The one gallons were the tallest. The 15 were too heavy to move. I grow now in 10 inch net pots filled with hydroton sitting on a 3.5 gallon reservoir. But gotta keep the reservoir fresh and cool and oxygenated. But easy to see when I lift the net pot. More roots, more buds.
I'm the same.every grow i try new tricks. So far.im pulling around 1oz. and 1/4 per plant up to 1.5oz. when I started a year ago I was pulling 3/4oz. My girls are currently around 20-23 inches in height come harvest. Would letting them grow taller give me better results?
I'll pass that 1 for others more knowledgeable. No takers? OK I don't know your grow, YOU DO. You R increasing your yields steadily, so doing something right. I don't know squat about lights, I use led 1,000 watt. What kind of water R U using? IMO if we R steadily improving then it's just a matter of time until we get some growing chops 2 1/2 yrs here, I originally planned to grow for only 3. I may have to re-up.
its depending on the strain if its sativa or indica or a cross ...i pinch the top out at 4 nodes and then let the new shoots that grow of the ,make leaves with each having three to five nodes again depends on strain if sativa just 3 sets of leaves per stalk ....indica 5 sets per stalk .then pot up in to final pot for a week then flip the lights to 12/12 ...it works for me .....mac
