Sup everyone, i go by Doc and i am a AZ prop 203 card holder. i decided to pick up a new hobby, so follow me on journey Setup: 4x4 grow tent 400w HPS light inside a cool tube switchable ballast inline fan w/carbon fiber scrubber 4ft florescent shop light for cloning (in closet) Strain: The Purps https://www.bcbuddepot.com/seed-list/bc-bud-depot/the-purps-winner/ Nutes: Floranova Grow & Bloom GENERAL HYDROPONICS: FloraNova FoxFarm Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz & Cha Ching Soluble Tri-Pack MX Clone Gel MX Clone Gel - Hydroponic Nutrients, Hydroponics, Hydroponic Systems, Hydroponics Gardening, Hydroponic welcome to my first grow, ill start off by letting everyone know i am a rookie to this, i found this forum searching around for useful info. i will try to be detailed as possible because i will have tons of questions. all feedback is greatly appreciated. i picked up my "the purps" mother plant from a fellow AZ prop 203 holder, after a little googling around some reviews says its a great strain so i am excited. Day 4: cut 8 clones off of my mother plant, dipped in some MX Clone Gel, and through them under a cheap clone dome. after 4 days they are looking limp and weak, but still green so hopefully that's a plus haha. i need to get a humidity gauge, but i believe its lacking. the closet its self sits around 78-84 degs. They are currently under 24hr 40w florescent lighting. Any suggestions on how to create more humidity?
Day 6: looks like i am gonna lose one of the clones for sure, and maybe another one. The maybe clone has yellowed and shriveled up, but i hear this is normal for a fighting clone, anyone?
Day 11: i ended up pulling the limp clone so im down to 7. i took the clone dome off yesterday and the babies seem to be doing just fine. finally spotted some roots!
looks great dude. the plant looks very healthy, clones are good looking too. Have you given the mom any nutes yet or are you just letting the soil feed it right now? looks like you know what your doing, you should get a nice yield off this round.
thanks! I've been referencing a 800 page book lol http://www.growingelitemarijuana.com/ it's come in handy for sure, good for first timers I use FloraNova on the mother every other feed. she is almost getting too big, after I put these clones in red cups this weekend I am going to clip as many clones as I can off her.
on a whim i stopped by the locale dispensary after work look some candy edibles. i had no luck getting candy, BUT i did pick up some Sour D hash and 2 more clones; blueberry kush and blue dream. about this blueberry kush clone, can i just stick this is soil?
yes you can but be careful, its a little tricky putting a clone that was destined for hydro into soil. I would personally put a cut 2 liter over the top of the cup after you transplanted it just to give the roots a chance to take off before the rest of the plant needs water.
in preparation to transplant in the next few days, i constructed these lil contraptions. Took clear cups (so root growth is visible) and drilled some holes in the bottom so the roots can breath and water can drain. Put those cups in foam cups so water can drain into the bottom and PH levels can be tested. Also picked up some Xtreme Gardening Mykos root enhancer.
nice work dude...are those foam cups 100% light proof? thats a nice idea, a good way to keep track of the root growth. no guess work there.
i thought about this but haven't tested it yet, i figure if need be ill wrap duck tape around them or something.
Day 14: looking for some advice, today i pulled the clone plugs out of the tray for the first time today. only 2 of the 7 showed root growth and as a matter of fact the other 5 i was able to just pull out of the plug. whats crazy is they look as healthy as can be. Should i just leave it? cut and put more cloning gel? toss them?
some strains just take longer to root, i have had some take almost 3 weeks to root. the ones you pulled out may be fucked, id stick em back in there and spray them down. have you had the humidity dome on there the whole time? i usually drop the humidity after the first week to try and force root growth.
Day 14 (part 2): ended up tossing 5 clones. i pulled them from the plug, they looked brown and were unrooted. i had 2 that rooted so now i have a total of 4 babies (1 blue dream, 1 blueberry kush, 2 the purps) that i transplanted into the cups. cut 12 more clones from my mother and fed everyone. should i put the babies under my HPS now? or give them a couple days under the florescent?
keep them under the flouro for a few more days then throw them under the hPS. what are you planning on transplanting into next?
i have 3 gallon and 5 gallon pots. smoke break. left to right strawberry diesel, lemon haze, pineapple express https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arLuyCgTTj0
looks like chronic. hows it smoke? i would also try an limit the number of transplants. so go strait to the 5 gals. I actually plant my clones in jiffy cubes directly into there 7gal containers so they never have to be transplanted after that. i used to transplant once or twice but i always hated the few days of stunted growth directly after a transplant. they grow so much faster when they have a lot of soil to grow their roots into without being obstructed or re-planted.
Day 17: put my 4 baby plants in my tent under 400w HPS and by the looks of it they are loving it. also added a CO2 boost buddy bag and fan to the tent. On a side note my local hydroponic store has a black sale friday. im going to pick up a lumatek digital ballast thats good for 400w, 600w, 1000w MH & HPS bulbs. i plan on upgrading to a 600w system ASAP. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
