The acting was so terrible in that movie, a bunch of amateurish idiots on a supposedly multi trillion dollar mission with a bunch of don't-go-there moments I am not surprised aliens were portrayed in such a way.
We should go out and look for other forms of life We should start small and investigate other solar systems with in 5 light years of us. We should stop using chemical propellents in our rockets and continue project Orion. If we continue project Orion we could travel at 10% the speed of light,we could get to mars in a matter of hours and leave the solar system within two weeks. We could investigate earth like planets that are 5 or less light years away in under 50 years. Had we continued project Orion our Voyager probe would be just reaching Proxima Centauri.
