bands like pink floyd, the doors, the beatles, jefferson airplane, rolling stones, jimi hendrix, etc. will ever die? I mean these bands have been around for 30-40 years and still going strong. Do you think future generations will also listen to these bands? Do you guys think when your 40+ years these bands will still be as popular as they are today or close to it?
they will always be survived by people, but no, generally most music subsides, and a new wave comes in. but who knows?
yeah that is true but if theyve been around for 40 years why not another 40 you know? but do you think any bands from now will survive like these bands did(from 2000 and on)? cuz now a band is lucky if they last 10 years.
I'm gonna say yes. Imo only 1/20 people putting out records these days have any form of talent. Take Paris Hilton for example, she has no talent but her dad's rich so now she's an actor and a singer. She won't be remembered obviously, neither will any of these pop star boy band bullshit groups, and that includes Fallout Boy and all of these 'rock' bands. I can't imagine a world where beautiful, poetic lyrics will be replaced with HE WAS A SKATER BOY, SHE SAID SEE YOU LATER BOY as 'good' in the public eye. I also can't imagine a world where some repetitive Blink 182 guitar riff is appreciated more than a Hendrix or Clapton solo. So basically, unless some really really really fuckin good music comes out soon which makes Roger Waters or John Lennon lyrics look like they were written by a mentally retarded kid, no they'll never be forgotten.
It might sound crazy, but I think that's an apt comparison as far as The Beatles are concerned. Two of the best songwriters in the history of popular music working together. Great stuff that will stand the test of time.
I know, it's sickening how there's a bigger market in writing shitty music that teenagers can identify with than there is for actual talented song writing. If you write a song about being depressed and your girlfriend left you and you're thinking about suicide wahhhhhhhhh wahh wahh you make tons off all these cattle. It's also sex appeal and what's 'in' too. The music industry died awhile ago to me . I think Tool's the youngest band that I like and they've been going for almost 20 years now.
Yeah Tool is a good band. Have you ever heard of Primus? They have a hell of a bassist and theyve been around for a while too.
Bass is pretty far down the list of why I listen to Tool . For me, nothing beats smoking a doob and contemplating the meaning behind poems or song lyrics, and I've done this a ton with Maynard's lyrics. He makes that band what it is for me. But yeah, obviously the drums and bass are great too. And I remember liking Primus instrumentals but thinking the vocals were eh, any recommendations?
Yeah the lyrics are kind of weird. Have you ever heard of Incubus? you probably have but if havent you should check them out their older stuff has a more original style imo. but they have a wide variety of styles. but still in the same genre.
Incubus is indeed legit, I have their Make Yourself album around here somewhere. Some really creative music videos too.
well with all this new crap out there ppl are starting to lose taste for music they rather listen to gay shit my chemical romance, the used, and other gay shit.In other words fuck trance, emo, and any other gay shit.
People change and so does their taste for music. Everything we'd consider shitty is usually only listened to by young'ns anyways. Most grow up to develope a good taste, so I wouldn't worry about music dying anytime soon.
Yeah that's another point I was gonna make, that NOONE more than a year or two out of high school listens to any of these 'acts'. The entire industry is built on allowance money, and it'd be funny if it wasn't so sad.
There is a general understanding that the Beatles are the best. The Doors and Pink Floyd re almost a second thought. It pains me to think this way, but be honest.
