Whatever suites my fancy. I don't really put much thought into it. Seed banks in the US have seeds I cant get abroad and vice versa. I get what I want regardless of where in the world it comes from
Domestic wasnt a option back in the day now lot more options my last 2 purchases were international i think im gonna give some domestic ones a try in a couple weeks.
Internationally. I bought seed stock in Vancouver, at B.C. Seeds, and, I think it was Freedom Seeds, the one that Marc Emery ran - he's the one that sold me the seeds - well over twenty years ago. Smuggled 'em through the border check - along with about a quarter ounce of some VERY nice Blueberry...twice! The Blueberry was only nine dollars a gram - Canadian. So, with the exchange rate, it was like seven and a quarter per gram in U.S. currency. Those were the days! That's been the foundation for the plant genetics I've been using ever since. A few months later, they caught that Albanian Muslim trying to smuggle explosives across the border, in order to bomb LAX on new years eve 1999. That put an end to any future Canadian border runs.
I live in Australia...not much in the way of seedbanks here, at least not as much as I know. So it would be international for sure. I'd rather buy from an actual seed bank than a reseller, and all of those are overseas.
There was a time ...not long ago when you ordered a known strain ..grew her out and got what you paid for my recent purchase of some shoddy DJ Short Blueberry from the states has left me and many others seriously dissapointed We put that down to recent legalisation and the hoard of 'pollen chuckers' that arrived at the same time at least until some standard has been introduced in Nth 'Merica where the pollen chuckers have been discourged the most I travel for seeds now is Spain even the Netherlands. but thats a short flight from me and thats currently the best deal for us in Eu
Heh. Of course, local for some could be Amsterdam and for others it could be Detroit! Everything I buy comes from Europe - not local to me.
i get mine from europe, been buying mainly from seedbanks and breeders in Amsterdam and the UK, generally they have been good.
There are suppliers of seeds online that are relatively easy to find, typically located in eastern countries. They will usually ship them in as an apparel item like a sock and hide the seed in there to get through customs. Seeds aren't typically expensive but shipping prices tend to be on the higher side when dealing with these discrete shippers.
I like buying genetics from all over the world about a year ago I found thebeesseeds a European seedbank they ship worldwide and got the straight up fire, Fruity, Gasy, Earthy, super Terpy frosty fire. I was impressed with everything I grew by them, there gg#4 and do si dos also there og kush all great yields and high quality medicine. I am currently growing girl scout cookies on week 3 outperforming everything else in the garden. anyone interested try coupon code DOCTOR for 20% off.
I've bought from many sources over the years, but now I purchase almost everything from The Vault (seed bank), which for me would be internationally. I will purchase directly from Mephisto (breeder) when I want one of their products. I'm not sure if that qualifies as international or national, since they have distributors in my country.
Many years ago pre computer and cell phone days I had a friend who started growing inside and wanted some high quality seeds up to that point we had only used bag seed. While browsing thru a High Times magazine he came across an advertisement for seeds from Amsterdam . Back in those days business was conducted with cash , check or money order thru the postal service. We talked about what we wanted to try and he ordered the seeds but he didn't want the seeds coming to his address so I volunteered my address . 2 months went by and one day after work I go out to the mailbox and there is a small long skinny box sbout the size of a toothpaste tube box in the mailbox. It was generic looking just a plain white box with a hand written label with one stamp on it and it was a U.S. stamp. I called my friend and told him that what we'd been waiting for had arrived. He quickly came to the house . We excitedly opened the box and inside the box was a small Styrofoam box with a Styrofoam top that had been taped down . We cut the tape off and under the top was our seeds that had been placed in holes that had been hollowed out in the larger section also there was a neatly folded hand written note describing what we had purchased. All of the seeds were exactly what they were supposed to be and it kick started our little endeavor . The strange thing was we got the distinct feeling that these seeds came from the states but the money went to Amsterdam. We can't remember the name of the seed bank now but I can say that the way business with the seed banks is conducted now is much easier now than back in the day but there appears to be a bigger chance you may get ripped off . I currently only purchase seeds from Nirvana and hsve never had any problems !
It comes down to payment method for me. I’ve bought from independent people that Ive met online with PayPal and banks in the US that take that or credit card. It’s always a pain in the ass but I’m in an illegal state so my weed comes from “independent sources” locally too.
Local. Seeds are hemp. Hemp is legal. Trying to import them is a whole different thing. So many good seed banks in the US.
