I can't stabd the safety on Bic lighters. I always pry it off with my switchblade. That shit used to just tear my thumb's up. So I pry mine off, always, and it makes smoking so much easier. But I go to smoke wit some homies, and about 75% of them ALL have their safety on still. I ask them if they care if I take it off, and then they light it pain-free, with ease and thank me for making their sessions that much easier.

Ahaha, yeah when my homie first did it to my lighter he flicked it and it didn't light. I thought he broke it, then he handed it to me. I flicked the bic and I made fire. Oh boy did I make the Geico Cavemen proud. I mean seriously, it was 'So easy a caveman can do it!'
That's what you're supposed to do. Bic is fucking up by making us work more and take that shit off. I get mildly annoyed when someone has a lighter with it still on.
I know, I always take mine off. As soon as I get a new lighter it's the first thing I do. Once I asked my friend if I could take the safety off and he's like "dude I thought that was for grip". i laughed my ass off at him haha
i cant use it with the safety on. Its such a pain in the ass. Whenever someone hands me a lighter with the safety still on i just pass it back saying ill wait for someone with a safety free lighter (if the bowl is not in rotation, if it was that would be fucking rude)
I have more trouble getting a Bic to start with the safety off, actually. Hell, I didn't even know a safety was on there for the longest time. Now I try to light it with too much pressure if the safety is off, and my thumb slips off or I over-spark it. (if you know what I mean) So now I have 3 back-up Bics in designated locations with safeties for me.
Yeah if the safety is on I ask if I can pop it off, if not.... I reach ALL the way into my pocket and grab my apparently unsafe lighter and use that
What kind of Bics are you guys using? You talkin about that little teeny tiny metal strip over the flint wheel? or some other kind of safety device? The Bic's I use have the cover over the wheel...I hardly even notice it. I originaly thought the metal strip over the flint wheel was so crack heads wouldnt tear their thumbs up lol.
My brotha, if your smoking weed with those bics, than you have no reason to be so tense and rough with the Bic. Just "flick your bic" without so much force. Weed's supposed to relax you, not turn you into a crazy Bic over-flicking MONSTER!
Nah bro, that "tiny metal strip" is the child safety (it's harder for them to push down with force and flick at the same time apparently? Anyways, my thumbs would always get torn up WITH the safety, but now that I pry it off, my thumbs are saved!
I always use my keys to take it off. It doesn't bother me too much if someone has a lighter with one on, I'll use it no problems. But it just makes it easier on the thumbs. I wouldn't wanna be flicking one with the safety ALL the time. It depends how you smoke too...if I roll a blunt and borrow a lighter to spark it then it doesn't matter if it's got a safety, but smoking bowls can get annoying.
Always used to do that shit when I bought them, now I got a zippo and all I need is some lighter fuel every couple of days and im good
it feels so weird with a safety on, i cant seem to use a bic with a safety. whenever one of my friends has one im like wait, gimme that a second, and take it off for him.
It's the first thing I do when I buy mine, pop them off with my key as I am walking to my car from the gas station. It just makes it so much easier and does not fuck up my thumb after a long session. A lot of my friends still keep them on but I do not give them shit for it, , I just whip out mine. Whatever floats your boat
Haha I use keys to do it too - more specifically one of those generic room keys (wish I had a photo). That thing is an excellent multi-tool - removing safeties, cashing bowls, injuring people... I hang out with friends that very often have safeties on, I tell them being safe is for babies and pansies and I ask to pop it off, and they're like "word thanks man." Yeah.
