Do you spend the majority of your time dwelling in the past, living for the moment, or preparing for the future?

I know there are a lot of people who balance all three, but what do you think you spend most of your time on?

If you have a reason for choosing one of them, what is it?

  2. Ideally I'd rather spend my time living in the moment, but I think like all humans we get caught up in the past and future. Mostly I tend to worry more about my future than my past. Probably due to sociological strains, I have a lot of pressure to succeed so that's obviously going to be one of the issues on my mind. If there was one good thing from Buddhism I took is definitely the need to live in the moment over the past or future.

  3. I probably spend the majority of my time living in the moment. Dwelling on the past passed the point of simply learning from it is useless in my opinion. I don't really prepare for the future all that much because I don't want to get preoccupied with a set destination for myself. I just try to live life simply.

  4. its tough to pick one of these and honestly answer that, i feel as though all three are equal in my life. although i believe it shouldnt be that way. i dont think anyone could answer this question for themselves without answering simply what they wish to be.

"if you arent living in the moment you are looking back at regrets or looking forward to uncertainty."

  5. That's interesting and your assumption is probably true. I've been predominantly focusing on preparing for my future recently since at this point of my life I felt I just had to plan it out in a secure way so I can just live in the moment when I get there.

I use to care about other shit happening that could effect my future, but there's so many things going to shit that it's pointless, I just have to keep doing my shit and take shit as it goes.

I just smoked a few bowls of some new shit I got and damn, I'm pretty ripped :smoke:

  6. Living for the moment...is where I'm to be found most times

And i've been given alot of grief and crap about it thru the years. I'm getting older now and you would think i would start thinking about the future a hella LOT more than I do, as a youngster I never thought about the future, didn't know or care to much about how long i would be here....nowdays I feel a bit guilty and dumb that i didn't plan for the future....now it's a bit too late to catch up on the financial part I should have worried about.

But I've had a pretty good life, more fun than not, more happy times that I woulda figured....with all the doom and gloom i keep hearing about that we are headed to, I tend to believe it mostly and figure, I will keep on living for the moment. Living in the past only wastes the NOW....learn from the past and move on...

Life is damn hard....lotsa hard work....so I live for the moment, you never know when the moment is up....and I wanna die with a smile on my face if possible :metal::smoke:

  7. Though I know I shouldn't I dwell a lot on the past. I've been working on it a lot lately though.

  8. It's hard to not to wonder "what if?" in regards to both the past and the future. A curse of consciousness I suppose.

  9. 15% On dwelling on Past Choices I made "/

45% On living in the Moment

40% On preparing for the future

    Anyone else?

  10. i dont think i can make a decision so i just didn`t vote. all 3 are important. the past is good because its good to ponder and reponder what has made us who we are today. the present is good because that way we made a clear memory of it for later. future is good because we need to plan ahead and consider possible future consequences negative or otherwise

  11. Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

    #Buddha

But just to say I do find myself dreamin of the future alot. But I never dwell in the past, whats done is done and their is nothing I can do about that.

If you have ever done N.A or something along those lines youll know. Just take it one day at a time!

    Happy smokin and growin!

  12. the future and past... neither looks good...

  13. i tend to dwell on the past a lot. back in my childhood was so much better and i wish i would have savored it more. i want to live in the moment but my life sucks right now *tear

  14. things will get better just don't let yourself get down

  15. I wish this where multiple choice. I'm hardly living in the moment.

  16. I try to live in the moment but also prepare for the future.

    In the moment.
It took a long time to get to (mentally) where I'm at, in a position where I'm comfortable with myself; which has allowed me to live in the moment. Sometimes I get stressed, and think about the future too much. But I realised by focusing on the now I am creating a future, and that I can (in essence) kill two birds with one stone.

At one point in time, going back a few years, I was completely dwelling in regret and guilt. But, it crippled me. I believe, now, that as long as I am sorry and vow to never make the same mistakes, that I am forgiven - Or could at least forgive myself.

  18. There is no future. There is just a present and a past, and the present is based upon the past.

  19. there is no moment. our life is looking forward, or looking back.

  20. its half and half future and past for me. well, no i will say future. im always worrying and pondering, then i realize i didn't accomplish shit for the present today
