Do You Recognize This Deficiency?

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by FarmPutz, Sep 19, 2014.

  1. Couple deficiencies to throw up here for you folks. I'm open to pointers  ;) I'd post in "plant problems and deficiencies on the other side of the forum, but I'd much rather just hear from you fine organic folks :)
\nHopefully these photos help someone to identify what could be wrong. My review of the classic deficiencies chart has led me to a few ideas but nothing solid. These seem like some pretty tell tale signs of something.... I'm just not sure of what! lol Hopefully a more experienced eye can bring forth the knowledge.
\nI'll entice all of you with a good news pic first. Then I'll bring the bad news pics. Thanks for any and all assistance.
This may or may not be a good lookin' vortex around week7

\nOk now for the business at hand.
    7gal smarties. Timewreck from TGA.
These deficiencies have persisted for a couple weeks. No possibility of pests (knock on wood).
Plants are otherwise healthy and a few weeks in 12/12.
Close to 5months old though. Soil is properly cycled ITG's mix with proper ratios of kelp/alf, neem/karanja, espoma garden tone, crab meal and granite rock dust. Good quality compost and castings with CSPM/Perlite.
    Garden Lime too.
Watered with rain water and well water through filter.
Other plants in same soil are great.
\nWhen def's were noticed a couple weeks ago- a topdressing of kelp and castings was added. As well as a brewed kelp tea. Last week an AgSil,TM7 and BioAgFulvic Acid to gallon o water was given to the soil.
I'm pretty sure I've done what will pretty much be suggested. Hopefully this problem will correct itself after what I've already done. Hoping for any solid confirmation on specific deficiencies and corrections if possible :) Thanks all.

There is something very puzzling about the first photo - the shape of the damage, i.e. they're too perfectly round. Fungi and or insects don't work in perfect circles.

Something went amiss with your foliar solution, IMHO

  3. Flush the plants, add a little Cal Mag to the water and spray them with some Organic Pest Killer. Actually, scratch the Cal Mag, I would just flush now and wait it out until Harvest. Looks a little too late to be going to war with any kind of def anyways. First pic just looked like some plants ready for harvest soon.

  4. Coot, thanks for stopping in sir. I'm puzzled too. The damn thing is spotted! I am positive it is not insects on either of these plants. I've combed top to bottom with 30x loop throughout grow on everything and not one hint of damage. I would possibly suspect an amiss foliar application. I've had neem oil and fulvic with agsil foliars with as part of my IPM. This plant received that 3 weeks ago so there could be something to that.

Well - I'm back to square one then. 3 weeks is much too long for it to be a foliar spray issue then.

How close are you to harvest?

  6. Thanks for the advice CornMan, I'm 99% sure this is not a pest. I won't be doing anything more drastic to try and fight this but 3 weeks in doesn't seem too late considering there's a month left at least. The first pic is fine, as stated it was just eye candy and incentive for others to chime in about the deficient plants. I'm not too keen on "flushing" organic living soil. But I'll given em a good waterin' when they're ready to drink.

  7. I'd say I'm at least  5weeks away on plants #1 and #2.

  8.
    I'll be back...

  9. Do you foliar feed neem oil?

  10. FarmPutz

Try this - take a tablespoon of alfalfa meal in 1 pint of water and shake. Let it sit for 3 or 4 hours and use a cotton ball and wipe a single leaf top and bottom. Do this right before the lights go out.

    See what the does...

  11. #2 is similar to the Magnesium deficiency I had in one of my girls.

I foliar spray neem oil at about 1/2tbs / gal. as part of my ipm. last one was about 3 weeks ago right when they went into F.

@[member="Clackamas Coot"], I'll certainly try that sir thanks. Will be about a day before I can do that. :) This is for plant #1 right ? :)

If in fact you have a deficiency the alfalfa tea will establish that.

Using Dr. Duke's Phytochemical & Ethnobotanical Databases I downloaded this summary of alfalfa's nutrient profile.

  14. It looks like fungal infection to me, but may be a plant disease.

It doesnt fit any deficiency ive ever seen, beyond fungal infections or incorrect spraying.

You seem to be doing everything right, which is why i arrived at these conclusions.

To be sure, id cut a clone and grow it out. If it exibits similiar deficiencies, my money is on disease.

H is in the 50's temps in the low 80's during the day. RH and temp drop 10 at night. No prior hx of fungal infections.
Does not look like the link you added. No brown in mine at all. But perhaps that will be the end stage progression. Hope not. Thanks

  16. Good looking out Poke, I have a few clones already but none are really rooted or transplanted into anything notable. I certainly hope it is not something that can spread to others. Ew. Thanks for the help

Using @[member="Clackamas Coot"] 's suggestion of the alfalfa tea, you will be able to aid many of these deficiencies.

How big are your plants, and how long have they been in those 7 gal' pots (from last transplant)?

  19. Hey Wak, thanks for stopping in! #1 top colas about 40-45inches from the floor. #2 tops about 35in from the floor. I have them mainlined and trained pretty heavily.
They've been in the 7gals for about 3.5 monthsish...?

#2 with feet just inside doorframe for size reference.

#1is in upper L corner, #2 is pretty much short and front center. Just so ya know.
