Do you need a special lamp for a HPS light?

    Cause when i wus lookin at hps lights and they had the ballast things that u can put into a normal lamp.. i have a normal lamp right now with a compact flouro on it.... on the box it said that u needed like an SR6 ballast lamp or sumthin?


    do those fit in normal lamps? also how how to hps light get? do i need a fan on them constantly cause my compact flouro dosnt get hot at all.. im growing in a box in my closet would it be better to get a cople more compact flouros or 2 HPS lights..


    also where can i buy little fans for my grow box?

    what are u refering to thats called a ballast?

    Yeah, you need a special setup for an HPS bulb. You can't put it into just any lamp.

    To answer your question, no a HPS lightbulb will not plug into a regular household ballast, that you plug incandescents and CFLs into. It requires it's own ballast, alot of places will sell HPS lighting kits which generally include a ballast (remote or local) and a reflector hood, and some kits are even self-cooling... just check around... and you can get small fans at most computer stores...

    damnit, wait why cant u use a normal ballast, they dont fit or something?

    and how much do one of these special ballasts cost (or how much would a kitcost), and could someone link me to some that are for sale online?.


    any help is greatly apreciated
