Do you guys believe in this?

  1. I tend to think that there isnt any christian god, atleast the way they put it in the bible. But there must be a greater force out there..something that holds the universe together and that we are all a part of.

Perhaps we are all collectively part of a greater consciousness that could be called "god" , and we all contribute to our own realities and collective existence through thought and experience in life.

It makes it seem like reality is only a faded illusion that we create..and that all of it was merely thought up by a greater being who had an idea.
I know this all sounds like something you would think on shrooms or acid..but its what I basically believe in, what do you guys think?

  2. That you're an agnostic tending toward deist or possibly even pantheist :)

Nothing wrong with that IMHO, and it's perfectly reasonable.

I though don't see any need to invoke deities in any explanatory model, seeing as it wouldn't be explaining much, just begging the question of what created the deity. But then again, I'm not you. If it works for you, by all means run with it :)

  3. I see no reason to invoke a divine force.

  4. something made us, or manipulated the elements until an Earth was made to give shelter to life forms created from the great void.

I personally think the christians are wrong. They all preach damnation if you don't play by their rules. I don't think we exist to be sheep in a herd. We are each unique and aren't meant to conform.

  5. Why yes. We call that natural processes. Governed by physical laws as we know them or yet have to discover.

  6. I think that any god that modeled us after his own image wasn't trying very hard. Or maybe we made that part up to deify ourselves.

  7. And he didn't give a shit aethetically. I mean, honestly, just look at human genitles, how could you possibly make them any uglier?

  8. Rasta_Man: genitals have their PRAGMATIC use that may not hold up to your AESTHETIC standards, lol.. and I take offense that you call my god a "he".. ignorant fool! i shall smite you myself!

  9. You guys can speak for yourselves! I happen to think the vagina is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen!

And on the subject of "god" I see it (or him/her) as more of a set of universal laws such as karma, energy, and other esoteric theories that have at least some scientific evidence to back up their existence. I believe we are bound by these universal laws, the same as with physical laws such as gravity, electricity, etc. We are surrounded by, and deeply interconnected to these laws... but as far as "god" being one sentient being with consciousness/awareness I don't believe in that, especially not the way the Christians have convoluted the "god" image today.

IMO the whole "man created in his maker's image" is just another example of how humans were created as a slave race by older more advanced beings. It all makes sense to me, but then again, what do I know... I am just a crazy stoner... :bongin:

  10. Forreal...vagina is...bomb...hahah

  11. Perhaps we are all collectively part of a greater consciousness that could be called "god" , and we all contribute to our own realities and collective existence through thought and experience in life.

    my sentiments a well :-D

It's the concept of one love, everyone is the same, we are all divine beings of light formed from a great universal entity of spiritual life.

  12. Sorry, you're wrong, we're not part of a collective consciousness - consciousness is spanwed in the brain and was an evolutionary tool for the organism. Though in a loose sense you could call the result of society some kind of result of the collective consciousness of a lot of people - but only in a loose sense. And we definatlyy don't contribute to our own realities with mere thought and experience in life - in a loose sense you could say thought and experience change reality for you - but only in a loose living life kind of sense, not manipulating the outside world in some kind of blatantly nonsensical way.

Looks like a quackjob convincing lesser quackjobs of some sort of extreme quackery.

  13. my issue with god is this

lets assume that god does indeed exist and made everything. then god is our creator but who created god?

btw did anyone catch the christianity debate tonight on the news...interesting watch
