I'm curious to see what others think about it. I'm not looking to spark a debate or philosophical inquiry, but if thats what comes of it, then what the hell. I am undecided for several reasons.
No, for the simple fact that the population keeps growing at a faster rate than people die. And even if you count animals the math dont add up. Now if it did exist.......i want to come back as jessica alba, just so i can masturbate, haha. EDIT: Yes i know thats twisted, and just plain weird.
actually I read a study that stated that was a perfectly normal and rational thought. But back to topic. Good question. As a Christian I would have to say yes I believe in it, because if I didn't how could I call myself a Christian. It would be a fundamental belief
I'm Wiccan and reincarnation has ties with wicca. Although it's an open religion and people are free to believe what they want and not be a part of what they don't want.. most of us believe in reincarnation. Reincarnation has a basis in all living things being divine. Most forms of reincarnation believe that we're all a part of the divine or a part of who/whatever diety is believed in. So essentially, Wiccans believe that we're a part of the goddess and god. To Explain Stoned budda's post... whenever someone/something is born a part of the divine breaks away into this living thing. When we die, we either reincarnate or become one with the source again. Why don't you know this "Budda?" = P /end Wiccan lesson.
I was just going to say that. Maybe we come back as 2 or more animals! haha, anyways, you posted what I came in to post.
actually reincarnation is no where in christianity besides for christ himself... i think the o.p. is talking about where our "soul" or spirit or essence goes after we die...as in everyone..not in heaven but in becoming a being again but yeah...i believe in reincarnation
Yes. Who ever said you were reincarnated as soon as you die? 'The math don't add up' isn't a very logical argument. What if you come back in 50, 100, 200, 1000 years, etc?
Me too = ) That's a great point becaue most religions with reincarnation believe that sometimes you become a guardian over a living being between incarnations.
Yup, and now I'm irritated considering I left that so open. Ignoring the fact that you spoke on behalf of others... What do you think? Or do you include yourself in that statement. Debate I was saving for later. Something I read a while ago attempted to explain the math of, essentially, where new souls come from. Basically, in very short, new "souls" come from a type of "life force" being transfered from the universe, to Earth, to plants, to animals, and finally - to us. ~shrug~ Explaining it in detail would take too damn long, and would essentially bring forth the question of "What is creation?"
[quote name='GH057'] Ignoring the fact that you spoke on behalf of others... What do you think? Or do you include yourself in that statement. I do include myself in my opinion. Setting aside whether or not reincarnation exists its very comforting to believe in it. Most people, myself included, would like to think that theres more out there than just this life and that we will always be here.
kind of?? is it considered reincarnation if you are reborn in a different form of existence? like if in my next life I would exist as energy, or on some different plane of reality
I believe... Since "I" am "I" in everyone, my "re"incarnations are every being there is, was, or will ever be. When (kinetic being) dies, his experience is over, and what is left is the experience of my other bodies, i.e. you, and my state of non-experience, which actually trancends even the notion of "experience/existence and non-experience/non-existence." Therefore I (kinetic being, the body, the ego, etc) do not reincarnate, but "I" am equally incarnate in everyone, at all times.
It depends on how you look at it. It is science fact though that energy is forever. When you die someday the earth will break through your coffin and use ur body as fertalizer and you will become part of nature.
Absolutely. Some of the most convincing evidence for reincarnation that I've come across is all the research done by Dr. Ian Stevenson. He spent many years of his life compiling scientific documentation of past life memories of children from all over the world, with over 3,000 cases. I also think a lot of things can be explained by reincarnation, take irrational fears for example. Some people are completely terrified of things that there is no basis for - maybe even things that they've never encountered. I think it could possibly be things that have affected them in their past life/lives. Ya never know.
nice topic, I actually debated this with myself the other night. I don't believe in reincarnation. I think once you die, that's it. If it does exsist that means we in some form have lived forever and will always but why don't we remember past lives then? It's because we haven't lived any or even if we have that part of us that has lived it has died that's why we forget or never even know, and in that case it's just a new being all over again. It's pretty confusing but again, no I don't believe in it lol.
You ask why we don't remember past lives - many people, including MANY children, do indeed remember past life experiences. However, if everyone remembered all of their past lives, with all of the heartbreak, trauma, etc. involved in each one, wouldn't that make living our CURRENT life horribly difficult?
Whats up Blondiee420, how you been still lookin good as ever? What book is it that you got your info from I remember reading a book about a doctor who worked with kids that have died and come back to life forgot the name of the book damn it!
