Internet use makes people cruel and narcissistic So basically the article states that a Stanford study shows that due to the anonymity of the Internet, Many people tend to say and do things in this world they wouldn't normally do in real life and that it can spill over into Real-Life. So in my opinnion it would seem legitimate, I mean hiding under the veil of the interweb does really seem to bring out the E-gangstas and E-hardasses for sure, and I have talked to quite a few people who were nothing like they claimed, Quite shocking really. Once it does spill over into real life it can cause issues IMO people acting like a desensitized prick and overly grandiose, or completely faking or frauding their "identity" as a much better, cooler, smarter and interesting person. That, once again would cause problems that would further isolate the person from the real world...Seems like it could become a nasty cycle to me..... Know anyone you feel like does this? Has it affected you or your life? Anything you wanna share please, feel free Whaaat do y'all thing Blades??? Discuss.
I think its an individual thing. I know for me I'm pretty much the same in real life as I am on here. However I do see a lot of internet tough guys on here so its probably a lot more true then it is untrue. Kinda sad though
Sometimes when I'm really really really high I use Internet terms in real life. I was super High on the you laugh you lose thread and was laughing really hard and said "lol" out loud. As soon as I said that I was like holy fuck did I really just say that?
Idk. I feel like im the exact same person on here that i am in real life.. EXCEPT for im more likely that in a situation where if we were sitting in a circle blazing.. and some dude in the circle says something stupid id normally just brush off like whatever we all say stupid shit. Online ill just say what i would be thinking in that situation instead of just thinking it. Luckily it doesnt carry over into my normal life.
Is the internet like the Matrix and are agents trying to assimilate us into behaving in a manner dictated by internet behavioral patterns.... Like getting brainwashed and changing who we are through encouraging us to be stuckup pricks online? Holy man ......... I love this thread, really makes me think about the way people around me reeeaaallllllyyy behave
sadly my real life dick head self carries over to the internet.. but this is exactly who i am haha.. idk how to be any different.
ya i have always been an asshole myself. my friends made it a point to tell me so. im the "dick" of the group. so i guess thats why i make so many snide comments online. not trying to be an e-thug...i was just born this way.
Yeah the ability to stay anonymous and say things safely at home allows some people to be hateful to others and say things they wouldn't say and often becomes desensitized to it. I try to always remember that I'm interacting with real people all the time, so I wouldn't want to treat somebody in a way that I wouldn't feel comfortable doing in person.
right.. not everyone whos an asshole online is tryna be an e-thugs.. some of us are just genuine assholes
Nah I get y'all aren't ALL E-thugs or trying to be, some of ya are just pricks, Its cool, I understand. But go look at other various forums or even Yah oo answers and you will get a better idea of what I meant by that part of the post Shits nuts out there in the digital jungle. I'm also glad to read all the people saying they are basically the same here as in real life, Its good, I feel the same about myself. I am a bit more wound up than I might come off, but then again, I feel like its pretty obvious at times too in its own right. I also agree with the people who say it has to do with the situation and age, I think that does make a difference. Most people I know were much more lil jackass when we were was young and doing retarded crap online.
