Do I need to break up my weed?

You break it up to increase the surface area, so that it burns faster and smoother. If you just smoke large nugs you'll need to break it up by hand later anyway to get to the middle.

 

Yes, most people take the nug and break off little peices and place em in the bowl till they have the amouny they want in. This enable it to burn evenly because there is air between all of the little peices. So yeah instead of shoving a fat chunk in do like i said and all should be well. Youll get the hang of it better as u do it often. Hope this helps.

 

dunno bro.. been breakin up buds for over 10 years.. used to be to get the seeds out.. havent had to worry about that in years.. then out came the grinders.. grinds it up and a smell proof container.. thats what ive been doin for the past 7 years or so... personall preference i suppose.. as long as your gettin ripped and not wasting buds then what ever works for you.. i personally like to take any extra leaf off before tossing it in the grinder.. any stems too. makes the smoke just that much more smooth.

I used to not break it up, and the top of the bowl would be ash but the bottom would still be mostly unburnt bud. Breaking it up lets it burn evenly and smoothly

 

I break it into tiny chunks, I know of people who legit grind it up and then put it in their bowl tho, for a bong I prefer to do it by hand personally

 

Especially a nice clean bong.. grinder get it a little too fine and you end up with more then normal amounts of weed in the water
