How often and when do I fertilize my babies and if the original soil comes with fertilizer do I continue to feed.
If its Miracle Gro you should fertilize it right into the trash can, you don't want to mess with that, i've heard it starts good then creates problems later down the line. i've read a few journals of some very unhappy campers to say the least, hahah. anyway. no don't fertilize already fertilized soil unless you konw you won't be giving it to much of any one nutrient. nute burn is easy to fix if you can flush your soil,, but yours has soil built in so be CAREFUL. if you ask me you should fertilize your keys into the ignition and drive to the hydro store and buy some FFOF. good luck though, happy growing!
I have the same sorta question, and I am using Miracle Gro Moisture Control, I know, spare me the shit talking. Regardless it has worked pretty well, im on week 9, 1st week of flowering and throughout the vegetative stage I had no problems except a few yellowing issues that went away. My question is, the soil 'feeds for up to 3 months' as the package said.. So, this being week 9, 3 more weeks into flowering should I start adding like a 12-2-4 Tomato nutrient.. or some kind of 'big bloom' product until it finishes and flush with water the last 2 weeks? I have never given these plants nutrients and they've had nothing but tap water. They are small, about a foot and a half or a bit bigger, but look pretty good. Thanks for any input.
There are many problems with using pre-ferted soil. One problem is that MJ has different nutrient needs during flower than it does during veg, thus separate ferts for each stage, but a pre-ferted soil is obviously only one formulation. Sinister, I would give a very big flush in 2-3 weeks, to try to wash out what's left of those time-released ferts, then start on a flower fert. That 12-2-4 you mentioned is a veg fert not flower fert -- basic way to tell is the first number (N) is bigger than or equal to the others that's for veg, first number smaller than the others is for flower. Still flush 2 weeks before harvest.
