Do dogs speak other dog languages or is dog the canine universal language?

  1. Ok, so I'm watching Family guy and Brian, the dog, speaks english. It made me wonder, do dogs from different regions speak different dog languages than dogs from other parts of the world?

Does this make sense or did I take too many bong hits. I'm pretty lit:smoking::smoking:

    All dogs speak English obviously.
Brian, as well as many other dogs, are quite fluent in Yiddish, and Southern Welsh, as well as certain dialects of the Oopskeet and Footmoo Tribes of South Africa and Kenya. ;)

    edit- Duhhhhh

  3. No I mean like dog languages, not human ones.:smoking:

  4. LOL OOKSKEET HAHAHA SKEEEEEET!

i think they do...i mean every dog does it differently ya know? i believe sooo.

  5. It depends whether you mean real life or just TV?

  6. Yeah like a Poodle would speak like a french dog language while the chiwawa (or however the fuck you spell it) would speak a spanish dog language, and the german shepard would have like a german dog language?

    Do they have accents?

  7. Do they have accents?

  8. im guessing its universal since they all make the same sounds...not like they can move their lips to form different sounding barks...lol imagine dogs barking with an accent...weird...

  9. Oh.

The answer is no, as they are dogs. Thank you for asking :)

  10. Don't all dogs communicate through body language/signals? Human body language is mostly but not completely universal so I'm sure it's probably similar with dogs - mostly all the same except in one country perking your ears a certain way means something slightly different.

  11. I mean real life. Im being serious. i want to know if all dogs can comunicateand completely understand each other, or if they bark to attempt to tell eacvh other to fuc off, but sometimes they cant understand because they speak different languages.

  12. Well, I dont know....

  13. They all act diff. and interpret body languange diff. But they have some things in tandem and others not. Some dogs are diff. Then others ya know what I'm sayyying? But unless a dog is retarded, I think they'll be ableto communicate well enough to recognise when the other dog in said situation is angry or wants to eat them or something.

  14. hahahah snt, only you would ask this motherfuckin' question.

    i think it's universal dog.

  15. its prob like a combination of eye contact and body language

but i think there barks might mean like hello or somethin cause if my dog hears another dog barkin in the distance hell bark back lol

  16. Well yea with facial expressions, just like we can do without understanding other languages, but im talking about dog talk man.

Surely someone before me has wondered the same, maybe?

  17. They sniff and pick up on like smells 'n stuff...

  18. I've never seen dogs using translators.

  19. but that is dog talk. dogs communicate through body language, and i guess some sounds... like growls and such.
i don't own dogs, but i do own two cats... and like dogs, they communicate through body language. i almost never see my cats meowing back and forth to eachother as if in conversation, lol. however, they do move their ears, tails, and that sort of thing a lot...

however, if you spoke german to your dog and taught him all his tricks in german, he's probably going to have a difficult time understanding the commands of someone speaking english... unless the same hand gestures and what not are used.

but yeah, if you put two dogs together from different parts of the world, they'll know what's up. apparently all they have to do is sniff eachother's asses to know everything about one another..

  20. There is only one language in the animal kingdom, that is the language of the heart.
