Do CFLs have to be an inch from the plant?

    I was just was wondering because i know that regular tube ones do but do they cfls?

    If you can touch the bulb after it has been on for an hour then it is safe for your plants. Some cfls are hotter than others. Use common sense and this shouldn't be a problem! PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    i have a few plants about 2" under some CFLs and they are showing burn marks, so i would say 2" min:)
