Do Ameicans realise they are victims?

  1. I wonder why I didn't think of that...

  2. why you didnt think of laffin yo ass of?
its not usualy the type of thing that requires thought.. it just happens.
i posted it as my reply as i thought it would be far better than the usual drivel i rant on about .

  3. No most people don't. It depends on what your interests are. I'm seeing the 1st, 2nd, and 4th ammendments being thrashed everyday, because I am very much into those rights (especially the 2nd). The problem is people don't care, they think hanging an American flag is being involved with America. I LOVE America, I should I'm an American, but I'm going to invlove my self into stopping things that violate me politically. People are more worried about "foriegn" enemies these days, and not the "domestic" ones in the government.

  4. Yeaaah. I'm a vicitim.. but what can ya do. Who isn't a victim. It was like that in my grade school, you had to say the pledge of allegiance. I never said it though! Ha, take that america! lol. Honestly, I don't even know the pledge.

Is the patriot act 2 for real? I think Digit posted it originally a while ago.

  5. I guess not. I don't consider myself a victim. I've been made to feel victimized but to be a victim you have to allow the actual victimization to take place...you have to allow someone to take advantage of you or to trick you. You have to give in...I'll never do that.

...and yes, the Patriot Act and the Patriot Act II are very much for real.

  6. ohhh, i just knew it the moment i saw the headline, that i couldn't keep myself out of this discussion, lol

democracy is a shitty system. but compared to the alternatives, it's the best we have (freely after W.Churchill)

the problem is in the (american) system of democracy. see, it's only democracy in the sense that you vote. the agenda that candidates go to the ballot with are not crafted with the intent to make average joe ar janes life any better. it's about conflicting private sector economical issues. democrates (mainly) supports the small to mid size companies and republicans (mainly) the big boys. this is solely due to the fact that you only have two viable political parties. if any political parties (or alternative political agendas) pops up, they get clobbered by the hegemoths of the US political scene. not respected as political adversaries. much the same problem riddles the UK.

mainland europe on the other hand got a more representative system, with a plethora of political parties and interests. this ensures that big-business will never be in control of the one forum where the voters get their say, in the house of representatives (parlament / congress / reichstag, whatever), and thus government.

  7. Democracy is still a work in progress...
Some countries who are not democratic have claimed themselves to be so...
    Democracy is relative...
Open to the interpretations of the country which puts it to use...

By definition, democracy means "majority rule"...
Obviously not the case with Bush vs. Gore...
    More people voted for Gore...
    Bush won...
    Thank you out-dated electorate system...

    Democracy is relative...

  8. the difference between the UK and the US however is that the system in the UK is growing developing addapting and changing to suit the needs of the people better. There are now the smaller Parliments (still somewhat "toy parliments") though with limited power, but they still are far more representative of the people (Scotland's is anyways, idk about wales or the others that are to be set up in England).
but still... its true what you say.. we're a far cry from many of the near ideal democracies that exist in a few places in Europe. .. but luckily we're not stuck in a rut like the US.

democracy is a good thing. Democratic socialism is better. I vae never felt that I was part of a "government for the people by the people and of the people"

    *nodding furiously*

    I'd vote for you.

  9. America's system may not be perfect, but it was the first free volunteer style government . At least give it credit for setting the example for the rest of the world to follow.

  10. bush will win the 04 election... even if he has to cheat again. and then, i'm moving to canada. along with droves

  11. Americans..........victims? What makes you think we are special in this regard? If you aren't the multi-millionare CEO of some corporate giant you are a victim also.

But, a victim of what? My government? Your government?

In a way , yes..........., but the real perp.'s are the huge corporations that prop our governments up.

For example, in a small mid-western town, where I was employed by a large corporate entity, there is ,as we speak, an entire populace being victimized by said corporation. How?

This corp. has a metal finishing department with large tanks of haz. chemicals. If ,at any point, too many of these tanks are drained, the holding tank in the corp.s treatment plant overflows and the operator opens what is referred to as the "jesus" valve. What does the jesus valve do? It releases the untreated overflow into the city water supply, but the city treats it's water, right? Yes, but it doesn't have the ability to treat the hazardous chemicals, so they go directly into the drinking water. Could this be an isolated freak occurance only being done by this particular corp., in this particular town?

I think not. What about the EPA? A government regulatory body?

They did "random"," unannounced" inspections of the air quality in the metal finishing department. These inspections took place on first shift. As stated above these were "random unannounced" inspections, yet before each one I was instructed, on third shift, to drain the tanks and dilute them with water. Who was the villian? The corrupt EPA inspector? The corp.? Or was it me for not being a "whistle-blower"? BTW, the corp. described above has plants all over the world, including in the UK. Like it or not, you and I have both bought their products. Are we the villians or the victims?

We are all victims in one way or another. We are all also the villians because we give the corp.s their power by consuming their products.

  12. Yes Americans are victims of a cruel totalitarian regime, but most Americans don't realize this because the US has lost 99,99% of it's free journalism in the last 10 years.
Now their media just spits out what ever the big corporations want you to hear.
Just remember how any journalist who was against the second Gulf war was made ridiculous on an organized scale by his patriotic colleagues.

land of the free?? yeah right

  13. First: Bush is an idiot. And if he gets re-elected I will probably go to canada also
Second: I blame congress for much of america's suckiness, big business just buy senators votes. They are the true controllers of our government, they control the news and our laws, and now they are getting tax cuts, hmmm surprise, surprise. I know i am a victim.
