DMB...ehhhhhh

  1. Hey you DMB fans how can you put up with all the homos at the shows?! The main thing that repels me from DMB shows is the enviornment and culture that they harbor at shows. I dont want to pay be in proximity to rich white kids with popped collars who happened to be there cause their friends are! Why do you like them?

  2. I'll never understand the whole Dave Matthews craze myself. I think he's a terrible vocalist, and sometimes he can be a complete asshole to the audience, even walking out cuz something didn't go his way. And I agree with you on the atmosphere. Mostly preppy teens who paid for the ticket out of the $300 a week allowance mommy and daddy gave em. The band as a whole is ok, but I wouldn't pay to see them again!

  3. i have never seen him but i have been to the outdoor music festilavs that he had performed at in recent years and i dont see anything like that, all i see is stoners and hippies but maybe it is just at the dmb only concerts and i really like his music it is very chill to listen to and the music festivals are awesome , do u guys like O.A.R. or any of the other bands like that,

  4. oar is sick i like them , but i cant listen to DMB, i cant stand to listern to a banfd where the main guy decided to name the band after himself. just bullshit ya know

  5. Exactly, because in my opinion he's the worst member of the band. The drummer and bass player are actually pretty good.

    And OAR rocks!

  6. Such an overrated band, it seems so basic and uninspired to me.

  7. these jazz guys that back up dave are amazing to me. Ive lost my love for dave over the years, esp the vibe at the concerts--no doubt has changed. but I saw them recently and I have to give props to the jazz influence esp in live performances to Leroi(sax man) and Carter(drums) and violinist boyd tinsley--these guys can fuckin rock.

    ps..OAR does fucking rock.

  8. i dont really like to bash bands on message boards, and thats why i stayed out of this thread. i came in and saw that you guys are fluffing o.a.r. in here. im sorry, but they suck. zero talent in that band. some of the worst song writers out there too. i also laughed when someone said that leroi and boyd fucking rock. i hope it was a joke.

  9. personally i dont go for dave matthews. no denying that he is a top notch songwriter, and his band are outstanding musicians. just not my style...his vocals can be so annoying, and the fans turn me off too. there are so many that would die for that band though, haha.

  10. so overrated, i am so sick of hearing about dmb, i go to a school where like 75% of the kids love dave. they spend like 150 on every ticket which is absolutely ridiculous to see that band. I tried it out cause i heard so many people love them, but i just cant stand his vocals and the song writing is really not anything special

  11. it wasnt a joke, that someone was me--it appeared you didnt want to point fingers but its all good. I stand by my words. I do appreciate their playing style and backgrounds to where they developed from. I give respect and props to them. im glad to give you the opportunity to laugh. laughing is good for our soul............... ................ :)
as far as OAR, Id much rather sit and read their lyrics than read your music bashing rhetoric. much more enjoyable. and true.

  12. Boyd Tinsley does not suck! Dave sucks, but there are really talented musicians in that band. Maybe you don't have an appreciation for a violin player, but he is fucking amazing!

  13. While I agree that the popped (and recent double-popped) collar trend is rather silly, i think you have a lot to learn about music if you're judging it on its fanbase. Like it or not, we have this concept called 'pop culture' that is fueled by the extensive media in today's society. When a band gets a lot of media attention, its fanbase is widened...bringing in some people who actually enjoy the genre but were previously unexposed to it, and others who are just along for the ride. Instead of writing off the band and its audience because how they dress, remember that in the end, we're all just people just trying to find a place for ourselves, whether its as a prep, stoner, or whatever else. That DMB ticket is their ticket to fitting in...just like your hemp necklace, tye-dye, or marley poster.

  14. o yea i forgot to mention that i dont like his new stuff all i like is his stuff from the 90's i hate his new cd stand up or what ever it is called

  15. So fucking annoying, it's all you hear about. Now it would be cool if the whole school was obcessed with Floyd, that would be one cool school.

  16. dude, i love great fiddle players. boyd just doesnt fit that description.

dmb used to be a great band, but they lost it around 97 or 98. theyve made some good music. "before these crowded streets" and "under the table and dreaming" are two great albums.

i just think boyd and leroi shouldnt be in that band. if they dropped them and just become a trio or added a badass keys player, they would be an awesome band again.

  17. Hey,

    Who's O.A.R? DMB...simplistic...but what isn't simplistic, it's the new-age of music. Some of it's alright. Peace.

    -Timmy

  18. i think he's really good and all the musicians in the band are very talented.I think his music pretty well written. although boyd is veeeeery off tune in their live stuff. but seein dave live is an awesome experience, i dont' let the preppy kids ruine my high.

  19. O.A.R. stands for Of a Revolution and i really like them to, but i agree that they kind of lost it after under the table and dreaming, but most bands that were good in the 90's have gone down hill since then, and im sure he didnt just name the band after himself, or at least i hope he didnt just name the band after himself

  20. the fans for DMB are what makes it terrible. they are all band wagon fans and ihtink most of them like the music because everyone else does.

but. i love the dave. they are absolutely amazing musicians, the drummer in particular. that man is a god amongst men.

i'm really only familiar with their first three albums (not so much the later stuff), but they're live stuff is absoultely incredible
