DJ Screw, Swishahouse, Rappers, Lean, Texas, Posers

I noticed over the last few years since Wayne did that Dufflebag Boy video that there's A LOT of rappers double cupped in their videos and rapping about sippin'. Even Soulja Boy lol. That kid even has a song called "zan with that lean". Talking about popping pills and sipping cough syrup at the same time. If these rappers did their homework they'd notice that sippin on the daily can actually kill you. Theres countless rappers that have died already from sippin this ish before they ever thought it was a cool thing. I moved to Corpus Christi, tx when I was 14 in 1999. I had never heard screw music or even smoked weed at that point in my life. The first time I heard lil Wayne I was on my way to Port Aransas, me and another friend had skipped the last half of school that day and he had a Swishahouse Release of The Carter II. Later on in that same Spring Break I would smoke weed for the first time, and sip for the first time ever. I had no idea that within a couple yrs all these rappers that we were admiring at the time would end up passing from what they were rapping about. A lot of 'em made it big. I remember when chamillionaire, and paul wall were part of the freestyle kings. But look at DJ Screw, Pimp C, Big Moe, etc. all these cats brought something new to the table. Screw is HUGE today in producing music. Pimp C was the first to really bring the south into his beats w/ the church organs and the funky sounding bass licks that can make you automatically vision a pimp ridin' in a caddy. Big Moe would go straight from flowing to singing a RnB verse and then right back into flowing again. All of this is still being used today. Drake is currently an artist that sings and then goes right back into flowing, and NUMEROUS beats have screwed samples on them. I wonder if these kids actually know the history behind that cup. If they actually know why there's 2 or 3 of them. If they have ever listened to Screw. If they remember the Barr Baby, or the Underground Kingz. A lot of these kids took inspiration to carry that cup and sip from lil wayne, and in a recent PSA Wayne told why he sipped. Do these kids not realize whats already been taken from hip hop by this ish? People think they can just sip and smoke a blunt in a video and they think thats it. What the hell has hip hop come to?

 

Edited. Z-Ro is a real dude. Always has been. He knocked Mike Jones out at the awards show and shook it off like it was nothin and went right into promoting his album.

 

I'm just wondering why all these kids are carryin the cup in their videos now? That cup has taken a lot from hip hop already. I don't stop people if I see them engaging but I do ask people if they know where it comes from.

These are just what I could grap in a couple minutes off worldstar. I could go on and on but you get the idea. These are some of the fakers that have taken this and made it part of their gimmick. And they have no clue why their holding 2 cups. Probably couldn't name 1 screwtape either. I gotta agree three 6 is real. I remember when "When the smoke clears" dropped and they had a video for the sippin on some syrup video too. Man Tx. was awesome. Some of the best food ive ever eaten, best hunting i've ever done, cheapest bud ive ever smoked, some of the finest women ive ever seen, rawest freestyles ive ever heard, and youre only a quick drive to Mexico.
