Are there any blades who skate and enjoy building their own ramps, or rigging street spots so they can be skated better? I'll upload pics tomorrow, but I have a 12x24x4 ft min ramp in my yard, I took a parking block from a nearby plaza and set it up at an abandoned gas station at the end of a manual pad, and I have a triangular 10 ft long piece of metal from a construction site that's used as a rail, placed in front of a little kicker for now. I plan on filling in half of it and cementing a bank into the side of it with the coping used as the lip. Any one do stuff similar?
http://diyskate.com/ Sweet website, has free plans for ramps http://skateboarding.transworld.net/1000152717/features/tws-10-diy-spots/ Few kickass places
When I was a teen, we were all about DIY skating. We didn't have any places to skate that kept us out of trouble, so we built our own. We had all sorts of kickers, rails that we poached from my old man's shop, and the piece de resistance: a 4' mini ramp. When my buddies and I were about 15, we built a little park in an empty and relatively unused parking lot one summer. It was a small town sort of place where the kids had nothing to do, and everyone was into it. Within a week the authorities came and destroyed it. Not dismantled - demolished. Smashed. In retaliation we had quite the summer of rebellion.
Nice, I want to build a cement quarter pipe at this abandoned gas station, but I don't want to put too much money into it, since it will likely be destroyed :/
