Wether your tight on money, or just don't want to hassle with ballasts or heating problems, this do it yourself grow light is perfect for you. It's easy to build, you can get everything at one place usually (Pro Build, Lumbermans, ACE Hardware, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, and most moderately equipped hardware stores). Step by Step instructions: First get all the supplies you need, (1) 24" Half Section Snap Lock Duct (3-4 dollars) (1) Double Output Light Fixture (7-9 dollars) (2) 50W CFL's for young plants (10 bucks) or for larger/older plants, and flowering, at least 100W, 150-200W Recommended) (20-50 dollars/ea. depending on how strong) A power cord (buy a lamp cord with the supplies, or cut the cord off an old appliance or lamp etc. and splice it on) 2 small sections of chain, or strong string. And if you dont have one, a 3/8" drill bit. Step 1: Take your piece of aluminum duct, and drill a hole in the center of the duct. Then drill a hole about HALF an inch left and right of the hole you just drilled (If you have a smaller drill bit, use it, but otherwise the big one will work, just not look as clean as smaller holes would) Step 2: Take your 2 way light fixture, and put the end that has the threaded stud through the hole you drilled, but don't forget to put one of the included washers on the threaded stud first. Once you put it through the hole you drilled, put the other washer over the stud where it pokes through. Then screw the fastener down tight. Step 3: Run the wires through the 2 holes you drilled, and attach them to a power cord. You can buy a lamp cord at the same place you get the supplies, or cut a cord off an old unused appliance, or lamp etc. and splice it on. Step 4: Drill 2 holes towards the ends of the duct (be sure they are centered) with the smaller bit, if you have it, or the bigger one If you have to. Now get either a couple small sections of chain, or some strong string and string them through. Step 5: Install your 2 CFL's and then hang the light in the desired area (I used screw in hanging hooks to hang light). And there you go. Grow light for next to nothin. No ballast, no crazy electricity bills, no heat issues. Feel free to ask any questions. Good Luck!

Hey bro thanks so much for this, it's exactly what I was searching for like u read my mind lol. I'm lookin for a set up for my autoflower to get established before transplant outdoors
For sure man. I saw this somewhere, and thought it was perfect. I built it in about 10 minutes, And I only spent a few bucks. Cool thing is, you can put a couple HPS or HID or Metal Halide lights in the fixture, as long as you have a ballast. If anyone has any questions, or comments, feel free to reply or message me. Smoke in Peace my friends.
have you thought of opening the duct a little wider and putting 4 of those fixtures in there? 2 on each side, rather than one in the center of the apex of the pipe?
Yes, I thought about it, but I would personally rather build an umbrella style, out of sheet metal, if I were to do that. But yes, essentially that would work fine.
