Hey guys, I'm a bit new to this game but I'm here to learn. I've read a few forums and have decided that I would like to start growing in apartment. I have a full walk-in closet that I would like to utilize. It's about 4 feet wide, 2 feet deep, and 8 feet tall. Money is not an issue so I'm here to ask you about what would be the ideal set up for my situation. I was thinking about putting a shelf halfway up and having 4 plants on the floor and 4 plants on the middle shelf, with a 1000W light hanging above each segment. Would love to hear your thoughts.
I think 1000 might be a little to hot for that I would go 600 if you plan to break the height in half
Use the 1000w HPS only if you have dimmer on your ballast. turn that shit down under 60% until you're flowering.
Oh fuck, yeah he means 2 1000w lamps. Man that needs intense ventilation, at least an 8"-10" fan as long as ambient temps aren't higher than like 70 75
Your best bet is to buy an Apache Tech AT200 for a light (you said money isn't an object) Get a Sunleaves oscillating fan -16" should do nicely Grow in pre-mixed Super Soil and use 5 gallon size plastic garden pots with good drainage
The hard part about growing in walk in closets in apartments is ventilation. Unless you have an attic access in there, you might need to cut holes. If it were me, id use the closet for veg and employ a 4x2x7 wardrobe cabinet with 600w dimmable, 6in fan and filter on a speed controller for flower. Are you legal? How much are you looking to pull each harvest? I love it when people work up enough courage to start growing. You came to the right place, man. There are some grow wizards up in here who love to help. Are you gonna start a grow journal? Sorry for all the ?'s. Good luck and Be well, -Agg Oops, i just noticed you said 'walk in' closet but the dimensions are only 4ft wide, 2ft deep, and 8ft tall. Not even my skinny ass will be able to walk into a 2ft deep closet. Is this right? Maybe i smoked too much this morning. Lol
I wish i had listen to the guy who told me to start out small and work your way in. in your shoes I would grow on just the one level, the floor for the first grow. I would start small with like a xte 200 over a couple of plants. delaying your big grow to understand how to tune your room you will not regret. buying one system only to realized that you should have purchased another .... 2000 blazing HID watts in a small in-closed space inside your house while you sleep no don't do that start off small and work your way up your local hydro store will hate you for it but you will not regret it. remember after the lights there is a lot of equipment depending on your climate you may still need a dehumidifier, Co2, controllers, fans... you may need that shelf for your extra equipment or as a work bench.
