Why do I see a lot of posts/threads where growers use distilled water? I can understand not using tap water, but does using distilled water offer any other advantages?
Besides not having any other chemicals or additives you would find in tap water, freshly distilled water has a natural pH of 7, which is handy to know. If you agitate the water or leave it sit for awhile, that will allow carbon dioxide to dissolve in it, forming carbonic acid which will bring the pH down to 5 with time.
