distilled water

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by stickyfingers71, Oct 16, 2015.

  1. I am buying some botted distilled water, it says it ozonated. Can I use this with my organic soil?
All bottled distilled water in Ontario has to be ozonated.

    Thanks

I am using Pro-Mix Veg and Herb Organic Mix, and wanted to use distilled water to go more organic, and add cal/mag .

possible with this distilled steam ozonated water?

I think you'd be good with bottled water... not distilled...
    Just don't get mineral water...
You can MAKE your own poor man's distilled...
Just boil it and let it cool...
    .
Here's my secret for GREAT , cheap water...

Got a PH and PPM meter ?
    I collect rain water...
Also... We have a Lake... The water in it is PERFECT...
    Low PPM and perfect PH

I was surprised the Rain water was as good on readings as it was...

Soon... I'll be testing melted snow for PPM and PH

  3. if your water isnt super hard or amended with chloramine then you could just use tap water. make sure to let it sit for a few hours (24 to be safe) to allow chlorine the evaporate. you will need to check how to remove chloramine if your water has that in it.

  4. Distilled water is pretty much 'dead' water, good for steam irons, not organic soils. Is there anything wrong with your tap water?

    Wet

  5. No...

Distillation is a process of separating the component substances from a liquid mixture by selective evaporation and condensation.

  6. water has chlorinmine and chlorine, I was reading distilled would be good to water with if I add cal/mag. Just
dont know about the ozonated distilled water.

I wanted to do more organic growing with proper water I could buy, tap water would be way better to use
I do let it sit for a few days out now, but I'm just starting a grow that i switched the dirt to organic mix,
and I heard tap water will kill my micro herd.. so just want to get this water issue sorted out...

  7. I use water straight from the tap for all my plants...cannabis, vegetables, flowers, lawn, and house plants and they've all turned out wonderful. I believe that the chlorine issue is one of many manufactured distractions that are perpetuated on this and other cannabis sites. But don't take my word for it, read the link below from the Colorado State University Extension, Denver Botanic Gardens, and Green Industries of Colorado, Inc. as well as other non cannabis related scientific sources. Keep in mind that cannabis is a plant, not a magic alien being.

  8. nice reply, great info. The reason I ask the question is i been reading Skunk Mag with The Rev,,and his organic growing
and He was saying not to use tap water, it is for me the easiest way to get water, and its right beside my grow, so I gues
i will just use that water and let it sit for some days.

But is distilled water bottled with ozonated water good also? only 1.5 for a big jug. !

    I did say poor man's...
Basically it kills all the crap... and some evaporates off...
    .
So explain more what REAL distilled water is...
Better yet... Tell the guy he doesn't need distilled...
    That would be more helpful...

If yer battery needs Distilled water , and you don't have any...
    Boil some... let it cool...
    .
    OK... Check my spelling too...

PS OH FUCK... You even gave a LINK to FUCKING DISTILLED...
    That's just too Fuck'n FUNNY...

    ( You've made the "List" )

If you have a Bubbler... Let it bubble the water...
I forget the TERM it's called...
But it'll cleanse it while it's sitting...
    .
Maybe Wakado can give you a Wikipedia link ?

  11. Yeah im reading that this chlorinated water issue is over exaggerated.

  12. BTW, this is not true. Batteries use distilled water because the low/no mineral content. You cannot evaporate minerals out. Distilled water is created by boiling water and collecting the water vapor hence leaving the minerals behind.

Everyone needs to take what they read here and other forums with a grain of salt. So much bad info being spread.

Yeah... and everybody keeps thinking I'm saying making distilled water...

WRONG... Never said it made distilled water...

Only said it was a SUBSTITUTE...

That's what you can debate... IS IT A SUBSTITUTE......
    .

In a quick search... Here is something I came across...
So I DO have back up to what I was trying to say...
    YOUR mileage may vary...
    .
    Quote...
you could boil your own water and let it settle. Distilled water is very
neutral. When you boil your water yourself it drives off the chlorine
and precipitates the minerals. I am assuming that you are using tap
water. If you are using well water then i would not recommend this
    procedure.

  14. I didn't understand your comment that way, sorry. So then, what does boiling water do to make it better for a battery?

  15. What does distilled water do ...?
If'n ya ain't gots no Distilled...
Ya Hillbilly it da bestest dat ya KAN..

  16. This explains why distilled water is used.

    http://www.trojanbattery.com/pdf/WP_EffectOfImpuri...

Precipitating minerals in water just binds the minerals together but their still in the water. Hey, I've poured plain tap water in my battery, not saying it doesn't work, I just hate seeing weird non-sciencey ideas passed on as being as such.

  17. Yeah... I just make this shit up...
Cause I wanna type all day...

    LOL!

Sorry OP. Listen man, many folks use just regular tap water - whether it's well water, city water - whatever. You can use rain water, snow water, dig ice out of the frozen lake. I've personally never seen an issue with using any kind of water in any of my gardens. Use whatever is handy - if it makes you more comfy to buy it and it's cheap then go ahead - I just don't think it's necessary to buy water.

    Anyhow.

Hey, Groot - I'm very curious about something -

"I was surprised the Rain water was as good on readings as it was...
Soon... I'll be testing melted snow for PPM and PH"

So, my question is about the PPM content of the rain, snow (or whatever) water - would you not use it if the PPM's were high, and if so, why? Serious question - I'd like to know.

    J

Edit - I wonder how high PPM water could be "fixed"; ie: PPM's lowered...

    J

  19. But Jerry, this isn't about the OP anymore...it's about BATTERIES! I kid and sorry OP, for sidetracking yer thread.

we have well water ... and it's 21 hard...(?)
    ppm's were 240
I was seeing problems using it, even through a drinking filter.

I quit... I use the lake water now...
    plants are healthy...

but, I'm guessing you have an answer for me...
I wonder if you'll "make the list"

    .
This thread was about the guy using distilled...

    ps....fixed/lowered...... R/O
