dissolve fert granulates in water

  1. so i went to the nursery today and bought some GreenAll bloom booster 0-10-10 for my flowering plants. however it is a granulate fertilizer instead of liquid so i was wondering if its possible to to dissolve it in say a gallon of water. the dosage for single plant use says a tablespoon per square foot so could i just take that directed amount and put it as much water as needed to cover that area? if anyone has experience with this it would be greatly appreciated if you could give some tips. i obviously plan i starting out low strength then increasing as needed. the plants show a good amount of P and K deficiency and are in the second week of flower

  2. I think the answer here is to use liquid nutrients
No point wasting time by killing your plants until you get the correct ratio of granules to water, which is probably why no1 has answered this question yet, i thought this also cos i bought 7-7-7 pellets/granules before and came on here asking this same question, until i was told to buy liquid ferts. If you MUST use the granules, layer them on the very top of the soil, this way they will slow release into the soil, i wouldnt mix them with the soil cos u dont know how much to mix and the granules themselves probably wont do the roots any good.....IMOTBH....and im a noob grower :)
Hope all goes well for you mate!

  3. thanks for the input

i have two plants and they are in half gallon containers (i cut the bottom half off gallon water bottles haha) so maybe ill just sprinkle some on the top of the soil. any idea how often to do this? or will the granulates dissolve after teh first watering? ive never used granulated nutes before and the instructions on the box arent helpful

  4. I strongly suggest you dont even use the granules because if you hit a nutrient deficiency (which you probably will), it will be hard to determine which nutrients the plant lacks in, another thing about granules is that they might not have all the essential micro/macro nutrients that cannabis requires to grow (liquid ferts do have these). I used the pellets before, used a large hand ful and covered the top layer of the soil with them, thats it, just water and keep checking your pH, each watering slowly releases the nutrients down into the soil. If you have an over fert problem with pellets like i did (over nitrogen problem - leaf tips started curling down) its hard to fix these problems sometimes because you dont know what to add to your soil to fix it.... so since then ive been using liquids and have NO problems, like i said before, i highly recommend you use liquids ESPECIALLY if you're into flowering - at this stage of the game you definetley dont want any mishaps!
    Glad to help ;)

  5. i also am using liquid ferts (SoilA/b) which are liquid concentrates with ratio .3-0.2-.1/0.2-0.0-0.3 which are good through the vegitative phase. i have already grown two other plants seperatly from clone to harvest using these nutes exclusively and they were fine (i actually N burned one right after the buds formed); so i have some experience with nutrient levels and defficiencies but i just know granulates are a whole other thing. the plants already deffinelty are not getting enough K and P which is obvious in the leaves (i guess the strain just gobbles those nutes up haha) so i may just put some granulates on the top of the soil and continue feeding every other time with the liquid stuff i have. how long do i wait before i apply granulates again? do i wait for them to be completely dissolved? i want this to be my main source of nutes for the flowering phase

  6. i have been looking at gardening forums and it appears that phosphorus and potassium compounds used in the ferts are water soluble and to do a tablespoon per gallon so i think im gunna try that

  7. Hope all goes well for you, I was just thinking there, if in doubt, just buy tomato feed, its got practically everything cannabis needs for flowering. AND its real cheap, like £4/$8 a bottle and im sure 1 bottle will get you right through flowering with both plants, you said you have a deficiency already??? Maybe you should post some pics up in Sick Plants section of this forum, from there - others on here may be able to determine if it is infact an actual nutrient deficiency or an over-fert problem, are you sure which it is? Cos the last thing you need to do is water with those pellets if its an over-fert problem, that will most certainly kill the plants.
Just my input, i may seem a bit too overcautious, but hey better to be safe than sorry, maybe its just cos im a new grower that I get persistent especially when it comes down to nutes. :)
Show me your grow mate..wouldnt mind getting a look at these ladies... :)

although the leaves are much more deteriorated than in that thread. i dissolved 1 tablespoon of the granulated ferts in water and watered the plants with it two days ago. idk if they are responding. i need to trim the damaged leaves. i also think im gunna sprinkle some pellets on the soil as well adn not keep adding it to the water

  9. Did you flush the plant before using the new ferts? Someone x2 this post if im right but I think its a good idea to flush a plant before giving it new nutrients, you want all the excess salts flushed from the soil cos they block out nutrients?? I flush mine before swithing to flowering nutes, last time i didnt flush 1 plant cos i thought it was a male anyway and it wasnt looking too healthy when I pulled him, shes still blooming  - she got flushed :)
