My father just died of cancer this summer, he got a medical marijuana recommendation as a last resort. He also wasnt one of the typical "patients" you see at dispensaries, he was a REAL patient with a serious ailment and somebody who was very high up in the business world(not bragging about his accomplishments, more so the fact that he is not somebody you would ever think youd see smoking pot). It was actually recommended to him by multiple cancer specialists at UCSF, but too late obviously. They basically used him as a guinea pig for tons and tons of drugs that hadnt been fda approved, clinical trials basically to see how these drugs that were in the making affected his cancer and the rest of his body. Nothing worked and almost every one of them had nasty side affects. It was fucking depressing to watch to say the least...for the past year or so before his death he was losing a lot of weight from the ridiculous drugs he was on...and being chemo was his last option, he needed something for the nausea and especially to get his appetite up. He ended up losing 100lbs and died weighing 129lbs...thats like the fucking weight of an elementary school kid.

He never got to fully take advantage of marijuana except for a few times b4 he got his own rec because friends were lending him edibles to help with his pain. The few times that he ate the lollipops, he was like a whole new man....the few times he smoked, i would sort of see his head moving back and forth like he got the spins, but every time he would go upstairs and get in bed he would actually be able to fall asleep(he was in constant pain because the cancer had spread to his bones and it would keep him awake 6/7 nights). A week after he got his own rec because he liked some of the affects that different products gave him, he was hospitalized and had emergency surgery to remove 3 tumors that were compressing his spine, making him immobilized(basically paralyzing him)....he died a month later.

Basically my point is that the medicinal properties of cannabis are indeed there. The government has done studies which prove so, yet do not want the general public to know about it and they deny any medical benefits of it because big pharma gives them mucho dinero to keep it illegal so they can shove prescription drugs with more side affects than there are words in the english fucking dictionary down your throat. Look at all the medical organizations and companies that now support the legalization and use of marijuana for medical reasons.....there is a fucking reason. It works. Yes, it also gets you high(not all strains do--see high cbd strains)....but those certain cannabinoids found in cannabis, spcifically cannabidiol, have an overwhelming amount of medical evidence backing it. These properties of cbd work when smoked, but work most effectively when taken as an oil i believe.

Cannabis would have most likely allowed my father to live longer, and I wish he looked into it sooner. He could have potentially substituted cannabis in place of some of his morphine, oxy, vicodin, and 1000mg ibuprofens pills(just to name a few of his painkillers, he was taking literally 3x more than those i listed but i cant even pronounce the names--they only give those types of painkillers to special cases which most of you have never even heard of or know exist) he was taking multiple times a day(2 oxys whenever the pain was too unbearable, and also took 2 vics with 1000mg ibuprofen every 4 hours NON STOP....just to give you an idea of the amount of pain he was in).

Fuck whoever thinks there are no medicinal benefits of cannabis. Do some fucking research and educate yourselves.

  3. Did I ever say it has no medicinal benefits? No. Im just saying some people, specifically your average stoners with average everyday health problems, are blowing up basic effects of THC/CBD's as revolutionary new medicine just so they can legally get high.

  4. I just got back my local dispensary. The owner had just talked with her lawyer today and she is NOT worried. She has him making SURE everything is according to California law, and so far, her door are open. :D

Its all THC and less CBDs now. - High IQ

Maybe where you are, hon.

And while I was at the dispensary, the owner proudly showed off her latest medical strain's lab tests to me- all but one of them had higher CBD levels than THC levels!

She has learned about CBD (it's nice when folks listen! :)) and is working hard to produce cannabis with just enough THC to trigger the CB1 & 2 receptors, while having a large dose of CBD to get those GPR 55 receptors doing their thing to heal you!

You only get half of the healing effect when you try to heal with most strains of modern cannabis :( - we need that CBD, too! :smoke:

And since the CB and GPR receptors are all G-coupled receptors, High IQ, I think you can get the profound implications that this study has!

A translation for the rest of you- CB1 receptors in your brain are made defectively unless you have Omega 3 in your diet. If the receptors aren't made right, the brain cells don't work right, and the brain doesn't work right!

The "average American diet" has almost NO Omega 3! Most of us have a bunch of "broken" CB 1 receptors that were made on those days when we didn't have enough Omega 3!

The CB1 receptors in your brain fight depression and GET YOU HIGH! :smoke: If enough of your CB1 receptors are defective, you will not be getting your maximum high! :smoking:

Here's more about why you need Omega 3 (fish oil, flax seed oil, or hemp seed oil).

  8. This is opinion is the reason that MMJ is not taken seriously by the wider population.

"Cannabis is a very effective drug at dealing with pain and the after effects of intense cancer treatment"...

Bah, bloody hippies 'll tell you anything so they can get stoned...!

Such ashame, My sisters freind has just been diagnosed with a inoperable brain tumour, they have undertaken a biopsy only a few days ago so its nto confirmed as cancer but given the size of what they are dealing with its pretty much the opinion.

I was having a disscusion with a freind yesterday about how there is a possibility that weed may help ease the suffering however how do you approach them withour sounding like some crazy whacked out hippie.

She is 40 with 2 kids, I am 37 with 2 kids, I would not want to be tarnished with the, "Shit man, you'll never guess what, Sherak went round to Kim's with load of crazy bullshit".

What does a guy who wants to help do....

  10. Thanks for all the info! I will certainly trawl through it, I'm thinking of passing the information to my sister first and seeing what her reaction is as a non cannabis user.

I feel if I gently urge this information towards her freinds without getting all OTT about it they can slowly digest the info and draw their own conclusions. Prob is time when it comes to cancer thou. And if eventually they do decided that a THC oil is worth a shot your looking at 3 months to make the damn thing. I've been seriously considering making a batch of ricks medicine and keeping it on ice for situations just like these...

  11. That's why it should be done through mail-order. ^_^ Good luck shutting down all those websites. I say fight fire with laughs.

  12. Yes, I believe that this was already posted in the "General News" section.

It is important to note that these are guidelines for prosecution, meaning the criteria may be used to decide which cases should result in actual charges of marijuana distribution.

This says nothing of persecution which, as we have seen recently, is the tactic that the DEA/DOJ/IRS prefers to take in CA. Persecution includes threats of arrest and asset forfeiture, "smash and grab" operations, threats against landlords, enormous tax bills, etc...

In their press statement the four U.S. Attorneys in CA made it clear that they consider all dispensaries illegal and subject to federal legal action. I would not take these "guidelines" as any form of assurance against the threat of federal legal action. :(
