Disease Prevention When Topping

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Kali King, Feb 25, 2011.

  1. ---I am considering cutting the top 1/3 of my plant off before flowering. Reason being is that it is already pushing 6 feet, and it must be flowered indoors due to the fact it is winter. Will transplant from 3gal to 10 gal pots, and questions are as such:

    1. Do I wait to top if plants have been recently transplanted? Or is this transplant not as shocking seeing how the plant has a heavily developed root system.

    2. When chopping the stalk of the plant, how do I prevent the open wound from getting diseased? Its hollow in the middle and I feel like it shouldn't be exposed.

    3. Do I need to wait to flower after topping?

    Thanks!

  2. Chopping off the top third of your plant isn't "topping." Tie it down instead of cutting it.
