Discussion about torrents, filesharing, pay-to-download services

  1. Yo,

I did a few searches and I'm still wondering what you guys think about sites like http://www.fullreleases.com/ and http://www.directfileaccess.com/

Supposedly you pay $5 to join both sites for infinite downloads...and it seems like they have a lot of software and music and even games. Before this starts sounding like an infomercial, I was wondering if anyone has used these sites? Are they legitimate?...they seem too good to be true.

Also, what are the reliable torrent search engines that yall have been using? I normally use torrentscan and torrentz.com . I read in other threads that some of you guys were using easynews (gotta pay for it) and http://www.shareminer.com/ (free) to search for downloads and torrents. Apparently you can even use google to search for torrents and downloads.

Anyone know how safe any of those sites are? I don't think that there are any legal issues with using these torrent search engines but I'm not sure...

Also, does anyone pay for Bearshare or Limewire pro? How do you like it and how safe/legal is it?

And what about torrent forums which require an invite. Can anyone recommend some good forums? This forum comes to mind: http://www.bwtorrents.com/index.php
If anyone can send an invite my way I would be very appreciative. :hello:

One more thing; let's talk about privacy/legal protection. I wish I could use something like PeerGuardian 2 but I have Vista and the software isn't compatible yet. Anyone know any other good ip blockers or general safety techniques? The only sort of protection I have right now is data encryption (TrueCrypt). I remember someone telling me about modifications you can do to your router to be more stealthy when downloading but I was half listening lol..

Anyway, downloading mp3's and movies is getting more risky...hopefully we can narrow down some new and reliable ways to search and download files. Also, sites like ruckus and pandora and youtube and hulu.com and Movieforumz.com come to mind. Anyone know other free music/video sites?
