Well, Im 26, and I have always loved music. At first I was cool with listening to the same old recycled mainstream rock that people have been listening to for ages. That helped me build a big and decent library of classic tunes in all genres. Rock, hip hop, latin, dub, house, freestyle, oldies, and even mariachi music. But now, I love the new shit coming out. Too many artists to name. Theres a cool app for the iphone called 8TRACKS. has anyone tried it? Its been my number one source for discovering new music lately. Also Pitchfork and highertunes. Highertunes not so much though. How do u guys discover new music?
i like to just type in a genre, or a couple of them and search like that. genres change with my mood so i gotta have a big playlist haha
But where? On youtube or something? I dont mean music currently on ur library. I mean, how do you discover NEW music?
well, places like sound cloud, and bandcamp have a lot of underground artists that are really good. everything should be tagged so searching is pretty easy. also reddit has a lot of music sub reddits that are pretty good for music, some of them arnt followed as closely, but theres still some new music coming up.
Gonna have to check some of those out. Cause Im in Mexico, Pandora wont work. Its not available in my country. But that 8Tracks app is fire
I recently read a lot of year end lists by magazines and got in to a lot of really good music that way like Grimes, Death Grips, Django Django etc. Also there's a thread on here rate the song above you (all genres) rating good songs on there has got me in to a lot of good music also.
