i went down to my local headshop today to look at some glass pipes since im getting sick of rolling and ive enjoyed using other friends' pipes. all of my friends either dont smoke, or dont smoke very often, so i find myself smoking by myself most of the time. for some reason my tolerance is very low, even though i've been toking frequently for the past 6 months or so, could be just cos im super skinny. so anyway, i saw a very small pipe there that interested me, prob about 3 inches long would be my guess, mb even less than that. are there any disadvantages to using a smaller pipe vs. a larger one? besides the obvious fact that u have to repack the bowl more often if ur in a group or want to smoke a lot. but my friends have larger pipes, so this would just be for personal use. ive also heard that smaller pipes require more cleaning and might break easier, but neither of those two would facts would cause any problem for me.
one disadvantage is the fact that if it has a short tube/pipe on it the smoke will a lot harsher because it is not drawn far away from the cherry.
smaller bowl, if the glass is thin it could be more prone to breaking. and when it's clean you're more likely to eat ash. but small pipes are great for transporting and sneaky smoking.
Small pipes heat up a lot and have little chamber room so the smoke stays hot the whole time. This can be really harsh depending on what the pipe is made out of. They usually have small bowl heads and clog easily. The only advantage i can think of is that it would be easy to conceal on your person were you to get pulled over and/or searched.
Yeah obviously a small pipe isn't gonna cool smoke like a huge ass bong would, but seriously if u can't handle rips out of a small spoon then you have some lung issues and probably shouldn't be smoking. Small glass pieces are awesome. even those metal one-hitters aren't that bad. Gotta be practical here.
Only thing I could think of is that it heats up a lot faster and you might burn your lips or something. Other than that they are great and get the job done.
Buy a sherlock, they are relatively small and give you a less harsher hit because of the cherry being further away. Straight spoons, eh not my thing.
I love my little spoon, she does a good job looks cool and can be transported well. Im am using her right now actually. Yeah the smoke is harsher but you really cant go wrong with a spoon, you can always get more pipes if you end up not liking the small one.
