Taken from Tsn Two teams in dire need of a shakeup have done just that, as the Calgary Flames have shipped defenceman Dion Phaneuf to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Details of who the Flames get in return is still unknown, but when asked if forwards Matt Stajan and Niklas Hagman were main components in the deal, a source told TSN, "it's bigger than that." Drafted by the Flames in the 1st round (9th overall) in 2003, Phaneuf has 10 goals and 12 assists with a plus- 3 rating in 55 games this season. Mired in its worst slump (0-6-3) since an 11-game losing streak in 1986, the Flames got on the winning side of the tracks Saturday night in defeating the Edmonton Oilers in the Battle of Alberta. The Maple Leafs are coming off a dramatic 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday evening. The Canucks overcame a three-goal first period deficit to extend a season-high win streak to seven. With Saturday's loss, coupled with Carolina's 4-2 victory over Chicago, Toronto now sits 29th in the NHL standings. The Hurricanes and Leafs are tied in points with 45 but Carolina is ahead because of more wins.
I was just about to post a thread man, my morning was just made. And we got J.S. Giguere and a first rounder for Vesa Toskala
its nice to see some leaf fans on here haha but more information about the calgary trade than what the OP posted To Toronto: Keith Aulie, Dion Phaneuf, Frederick Sjostrom To Calgary: Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers, Ian White There is also no pick in the Giguere deal. from: Maple Leafs Hot Stove I like the trades and should work out for us in the long run, it will not be too long before Burke goes to work on the offense since he know has a good goalie and another big name D man. Burke also got rid of some of the biggest pilons in the lineup, I am kinda sad to see Ian White go though since he has always played good
the sad thing about the loss last night is that it is'nt even the worst or most suprising loss that we have had this season.
