Dilemma: soft white for vegging? HELP!

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by freegirl420, May 25, 2009.

  1. I recently bought some metal halide lights from Home Depot only to find out that the fuckers sold me the wrong ballast (and then told me they didn't even carry a ballast for the MH lights they sell).

I bought a 150 watt Soft White CFL light instead.

Then I found out that those aren't suitable for the vegetative stage! And tomorrow's Memorial Day, and I won't be able to get Daylight CFLs until Tuesday.

But I've already put my seeds in a wet paper towel!

How long can I leave those seeds in there before they die?

Or should I just plant the seeds and use the Soft White until Tuesday?

    HELP APPRECIATED!!!

    *rips hair out in frustration*

    Weed shouldn't be this stressful.

  2. Someone .... anyone ..... ?

  3. Soft white can still be used for vegging. Ive used them all the way through a grow before with some nice buds. The downside is that they do not produce enough lumens as the daylight bulbs so they will not grow as fast and may have a tendency to stretch.

  4. Relax, your seeds may not even be sprouted by Tuesday! Even if they are, a soft white bulb won't do any harm for the first few days. Plenty of time to get what you need before the action takes off.

  5. I'm really paranoid because I've invested a lot in this little project! When I had my first seeds, they sprouted about 1/2 inch in 24 hours, and I planted them using the wrong lights (I'm a moron).

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm gonna plant them today, wish me luck .... hopefully my babies turn out OK.
