I read this book, and it really made me start to think about society and how we are becoming more and more controlled by our trends. I thought this book was very cool to read, post your thoughts about it!

  2. I read it, about a year ago. Definitely changed my opinions on government and society. It almost made me feel as if there's some formula on how to live life. We aren't completely there, yet, but I can honestly say I believe a society similar to the one in BNW is plausible. Look at the society and culture of America. I feel like such an outcast here, and only the ones who feel like I do will begin to understand where I'm coming from. The rest (majority, mind you) blow me off as paranoid, strange, crazy, etc.

We're set up from such a young age to want to be CEOs and heads of huge companies and to make tons of money. How many achieve this? I wouldn't have an exact figure, but my guess would be not many. We don't live to make contributions to society, but in America, we're made to believe so. I have no idea what is going on through other people's minds, but, quite frankly, I don't care. And I don't care about what my "role" in society is. I live for myself, and fuck everybody else, especially those who want me to be what they see as "useful"

Too bad nobody thinks for themselves, anymore. Whatever we're told, fed, bombarded with, we believe. In the end, a bums life is no different than Donald Trumps, but Trump has money, so let's love him. Fuck society, seriously. It angers me so much. My anger level went up tenfold since I started typing, haha.

People who feel like I do are fucked, basically. This world isn't a world for individualists.

  3. The way this book made me think is of how inclined we are to reach perfection and happiness

In the World State, there is no way of being sad. There's soma and you are engineered and mind controlled to be happy about your place in society, and it is completely against your own will. This made me think that I've been living my life with no purpose. I do everything right now to make myself happy, and that's all I try to achieve. But there is more to life then happiness from a drug or unreal sex.

Of course I will still smoke weed, but I don't do it to look for complete happiness or to be like others. I do it because it makes me who I am. After reading this book it made me think about how I should live my life with more purpose and meaning.

  6. Read BNW a long time ago, but it didn't necessarily shatter my notions of the world we live in and convince me that America was this amazingly corrupt nation unlike anywhere else in the world.

I will say that it was a good read.
