Hey guys! So I’ve been having an interesting challenge in my grow that I believe I may have (somewhat at least) figured out. Basically the last few grows I’ve done I’ve made my own soil (as I always have) but used too big of perlite & couldn’t get my normal compost & as such, that soil had runoff issues & some other things as well & for runoff, I have my plants on elevators in saucers, as you’ll see pictured, & they’re 20 gallon Rain Science pots. So this time, I went for all Buildasoil OLY mountain compost living soil & I absolutely LOVE it, yet I noticed that I was still having some of the plant symptoms I was having with my own soil & that the 2 plants out of 6 that really got affected are the only 2 that did not have their roots happen to grow into the saucers & essentially create an unintentional SIP setup. Also, in the plants whose roots did grow into the saucers, these plants also have a lot more sprouts from the barley straw mulch than the plants whos roots have not grown into the saucers yet. I’m going to post pics so you can all see but I’m curious if you think this is a real theory or if it’s simply a correlation not equaling causation. Appreciate you all!
For some reason it won’t let me post the rest as it says the pictures aren’t valid but from what I’ve posted, you can see that the first pic is the plants that are doing great & have become a SIP setup of sorts, the second pic is of the plants that are not doing good & have no barley straw sprouting & the third pic is of one of the plants that has not become a SIP setup or had barley straw sprout.
