Did Man Really Land On The Moon?

Discussion in 'General' started by Stytchiz, May 20, 2005.

  1. I am sitting here baked after an 8 hour sesh in front of a computer screen. I work for a poker company and we were having a discussion this morning about whether man has really landed on the moon, or whether the moon landing was an elaborate hoax in order to boost moral. Maybe they just wished they were further along in the space race than they actually were at that point in time.

I personally believe the moon landing was a hoax and i was wondering what everyone else thinks. My reasons for disbelief are as follows:

    1) There is no atmosphere in space, ergo there is no wind. So why was the flag, that appeared in televised coverage of the moon landing, actually waving back and forth in a breeze?

    2) The Landscape of the moon featured in the televised footage looks incredibly similar to the surrounding desert areas of 'area 51'.

    3) when the moon lander was shown in footage, THERE WAS NO BLAST CONCAVITY. This means that the rockets that were supposedly used to land the moon module managed to do so without leaving the faintest depression in the ground.

This is probrably a load of paranoid crap tho ............

  2. what would the purpose be?

this has been debunked on many sites.

some guy even tried to say the moon is fake..

  3. there isnt one, unless u consider escalating fear and panic in a cold war era, and the public being worried about the russians a point

  4. Yes I believe there is a moon and yes I believe astronauts landed on it...

  5. I bet the flag was made out of a stronger material so that it would last and thats why it seemed upright

  6. Everyone knows Tintin was the first man to ever set foot on the moon. Everyone.

  7. theres no wind on the moon, but still, once the flag was knocked or hit or just shaken about, it would of began moving, with no air to cause friction, it should keep moving shouldnt it? just like a baseball thrown on the moon, it wont just stop once you let go.

    ?

  8. I think unless you have been to space you cant quite argue about a small thing like a flag moving. How would you know if it would move at all? How did they fake the very low gravity scenes? And once again why..?

  9. 1) starch the flag
    3) doesnt look anyhting like area 51
    2) blast concavity ? wtf i dont htink your a space man

  10. ridiculous. i get pissed anytime someone accuses it of being fake. ESPECIALLY if those who call it fake weren't even born till after it happened.

    1) try to plant a flag indoors where there's no wind. you'll notice the cloth still ripples because you have to wiggle the stick into the ground. the movement will make the cloth shake.

    2) and? natalie portman looks similar to keira knightley (see for yourself). apple juice looks similar to piss.

    3) the reason there wasn't any depression in the ground was because there were only a few inches of dust. they lowered slowly and the dust that would've gotten thrown around did get thrown around. there's just no wind to carry it like it sounds like you expect to see. it gets thrown around it just doesn't scatter in an earth-like way.

do you honestly think moon rocks are from earth? come on. anyone who gets the opportunity to just hold one of the rocks can tell they aren't from this planet. just by holding it and looking at it. if that's not convincing enough you can look at all the tests and research done on the rocks.

space travel isn't impossible. as we've almost all seen with model rockets. it's not impossible. who is to say that a larger scale model rocket couldn't have went up with people in it.

all of the tv shows that say "the flag moved, there was no destruction to the surface when it landed, etc., etc." are very one sided. similar to the propoganda we see on tv against weed. "marijuana kills thousands each year." one-sided. the tv shows fail to say "yes, the flag moved, and that shouldn't happen. but there's a possibility it's from when they put it in the ground." notice how the flag stops moving after they stop twisting it into the ground.

you lose, this hoax shit is nonsense. get out of america if you believe this garbage. why do i always end up dominating every argument like this that i get into...man. wait, probably because i've seen both sides and know most of the facts. i won't say all because i don't.

this shit is on the same level as trying to say the holocaust didn't happen. take a good look around and re-adjust your beliefs.

  11. I dunno if I believe it's a hoax... but people like sirseedy more remind me of the anti-marijuana people then those who claim it's a hoax, if we're gonna use that comparison.

"It's true, the nice people on the TV said it's real, so it has to be... ARE YOU QUESTIONING THE PEOPLE ON THE TV?!?!? GET OUT OF THIS COUNTRY!!"....

I'm not sure I believe it's a hoax (I actually doubt it is), but I think it's better to at least question the things that we learn about and see, as opposed to taking everything at face value and attacking everyone who doesn't. And for the love of god, stop telling everyone who doesn't agree with you to 'get out of your country'... it really makes us americans look bad (worse).

  12. about the flag - Its not a fabric flag, but rather it was made of fiberglass or somethin, and molded to look like it is permanently flapping in the breeze. Every single still photo of the flag will show the flag in the EXACT same position.

  13. Yeah, but the flag DOES move... it can probably be explained by the astronauts handling it, but it actually moves

  14. fuck this. the facts have been presented, but some stubborn minds don't listen. davey, i don't watch the news, or much tv for that matter. i could give a shit what anyone says on tv. in fact i'm arguing about what is on tv. i'm not posting for one side that i only listened to. i've seen both and thought about both. like i do with every debate-worthy topic such as this. you should too.

  15. :hello:
thank you, lol, ive tried giving you + rep, but it said that i had to spread it around before i could give it to you

oh and sirseedy, you dont dominate every argument you are in, you are just the biggest asshole about it.

  16. i think we landed on the moon because ive heard that movie had been disproven by a video made by discovery or some legitimate station like that disproved all the theories.

the only thing that really stook out in my mind from that movie where they tried to say it was a hoax was the thirteen or whatever it was deaths of astronauts before they got too the moon and the fact that no country has ever gone back to the moon, i thought there were moon missions all the time

  17. as long as you know your physics then u can prove that some of the things reported in coverage of the moon landing are false, you dont need to be an astronaut. if there is no atmosphere in space then there is no friction, therefore anything accelerating would have no way of stopping in space unless using rockets to stop forward momentum. when approaching the moon the lander would have increased speed as there is gravity on the moon albeit less than earth, therefore needing greater reverse thrust to land. this reverse thrust would obviously have thrown up dust and left burn marks on the surface. as for the arguement about dust being thrown up, if dust settled then surely there would have been dust settled on the landing legs of the lander, but yet they were spotless.

the arguement about the flag moving due to the astronauts placing it, yes i agree that there would have been movement due to it being placed, but as there is some gravity on the moon the flag would have ended up lying against the flag pole, not flapping as if in a wind.

as for the comment " if u dont like america get out" im not in america you twat, and generally wining an arguement is not down to how much of an asshole you can be but whether your arguements make sense. which yours dont.

by the way, look at the craters on the moon from small rocks hitting, there are craters left, as would there be a crater from any rocket assisted landing.

i am sick of americans thinking that just because they live in a wealthy country, that it makes thiers the best. I would rather live in europe than live in a police state.

u lose seedy, learn physics then come back and talk some sense

  18. i liked all of what you said, until this part
you shouldnt hate all of americans just because of this one asshole, seedy is an ass, and there are alot of assholes in america, but to judge the whole country as assholes is ridiculous.

attacking america as a country, is not a very smart way to make friends on this website, as many of the people on this website, are from america.

try to watch what you say, before you say it next time.

  19. please do not misunderstand me, i have close family members who are american, my dad is american and i have lived in america for some years, although now i live in the uk. The reason i made that comment however is because i seem to have run into a lot of people with the same attitude as seedy who think that because they live in the states they have the right to talk shit. Please dont think i dislike americans, that is not the case, i merely dislike individuals that believe thier country is the only one with any worth, and refuse to acknowledge thier own shortcomings.

    peace out

  20. the flag doesnt move u dumb fuckers theres no gravity on the moon so the flag cant be hanging down it stays the shape u want it to thats why everyone thinks its waving in the wind.. idiots dont know gravity
