I haven't done a scrOG in three years, opting instead to do a bunch of autos and now I've forgotten a very important step. This grow is in my smaller tent and the screen is almost full and I'm worried I've waited too long to switch to flowering. I've only got 25" between the highest plant and the bottom of my light hood and it's as high as it can go without being in contact with the tent. I'm running at 600w on 18/4 cycle in soil with very minimal nutes. It's air cooled and typically runs between 75° and 82°f. I welcome any advice I can get. You screened before you flowered? I am going to screen after 10 days flower next time to control the stretch. The buds on one of my plants are almost 2ft long, which is way tooo long. I would have preferred ~8" buds for lighting. You should probably flower. You may need to supercrop and top some buds if they stretch too much.
Flip to flower immediately. You might end up being ok if you have a strain that doesn't stretch much i.e Indica dominant. I'd also keep tucking while in flower you have a tiny bit of space to do so.
he said there autos. keep running your 18/6 until they start to flower then turn on 24/7 get the yield.
Yeah, I had to do a couple brutal supercrops on two of them. All the guides I've used for my ScrOGs say to start screening as soon as the main plant gets stiff and woody (that sounded awkward lol). Anyway they also advise to switch to flowering when the screen is about 75% filled in because there's about a two week period where they continue some vegetative growth. That's worked well for me in the past and this time I waited a little too long so it's going to get tight.
I I see I worded my post poorly. I should have said I'd opted to do autos in the past but this time I wanted to screen so I went back to photoperiod. I apologize for the confusion.
@pdgenoa its all good regarding scrog, its really a strain specific thing as to when to scrog. The first couple weeks once you change to 12/12 is a stretch period and some plants just over stretch. I know for the strain I am currently growing that I should have waited. Her sister has ~ 8-10" stretch which isn't so bad. The plant wouldn't be so crowded if it had not stretched so much.
Why not just keep tucking the taller nodes to avoid height issues? I've read about people doing this 2-3+ weeks into flower even.
I switched them over yesterday. Looks like that's what I'll be doing. I may get an led for this tent too since I enjoy doing ScrOG so much. Thanks.
That's a great looking crop. I'm lucky I kept a journal on my last ScrOG of these strains. I finally found it again and it looks like I'm dealing with only a 5-7" stretch so I should be able to manage that. I switched everything over yesterday. Thank you.
