Did I trim too much? Or should I trim more?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by toolzor, Jun 18, 2018.

  1. One week into flower, finally had time to sit down and clean up the lower vegetation on my girls.

My question is, do you think I trimmed too much? Or should I still trim more?

    before and after shots enclosed.

Pics 9-12 are before shots, 1-8 are after shots.

  2. if it was to much the plant will let ya know either by goin hermie or stalling for a few weeks

  3. Hopefully niether of said things happen but, visually, what's your opinion?

  4. I’ve trimmed more than that when I had a weak light I use to do 4 inches at the top after tying it down. But come flower u can’t do any of that or it’ll stress n hermie

  5. Then it may have been a mistake, it's only a week in so hopefully it won't do that but, lesson learned, thanks for the tip. I'll keep my eyes open for balls.

  6. If your in flower it’ll b stretching and growing quite a bit in the next 3 weeks it’s like a extended veg period I’m sure your fine.

  7. Ah good, that's what I was hoping for, since it's been stretching like a mother.. need to tie some of that down, girls are getting pretty tall

  8. its perfectly fine. i trim mine before it goes into flower then week 2 of flower. its not going to herm or stress it. stop stressing this user out. they look good my review. only advice i want to give is if you can keep the temps down can you add some side lighting? it does not have to be led. any lighting .

  9. Temp is a huge problem for me right now as my house's air conditioner in the dead of summer took a shit on us (it's 6 months old too..)
As for side lighting... not really, I want to throw a QB in there but the wallet is hurting right now I can't really add anything that I want/need to, what I have right now I think is what I'm stuck with for at least a few weeks.

  10. It looks good u did a good trim i did my final trim last night and im on week 4 of flower ya it wont hermie.

  12. Buddy saying it's either gonna hermie or take 3 weeks to catch up is wrong... If you were 5+ weeks into flower then I might agree but for the first 3-4 weeks you can prune periodically.. I prefer to do a little every day or every other day to avoid shock but assuming you have good genetics, cannabis is a extremely strong plant!

ALWAYS take people's advice with a grain of salt for growing weed. And escpecially in weed growing forums... never take one person's answer as a correct answer its just an opinion thats it. Suprises you didnt get people saying blasphemy to your pruning also. Controversial subject..

  13. As a little perspective.. I am a new grower, only on my third... I have pruned throughout all my grows all the way up until week 4 of flower and I'm growing the best shit I have ever smoked. No balls no bananas

  14. Yeah, I was actually surprised no one came in and started about no pruning ever. I really just needed to clean that stuff up down there since it really gets no light and feeding was a pain trying to weave my way under all that undergrowth haha.

Yeah I know it's just opinions but more eyeballs are better than my inexperienced two :p

  15. Yea bro that dude who said it will hermie and stall probably doesnt even grow or he would know better. Like others have said i also like to trim a few days before flip then once more about 2 weeks later.

But i like to trim at once instead of little by little, I almost never get sad or droopy plants after trimming and i take off quite a bit sometimes. Only thing that really slows cannibus down is topping/transplanting in my experience.

Looks like you did a good job

  17. This is a very controversial topic. I also did a lot of research on this topic during my first grow. After much deliberation, I decided on taking leaves off. I went commando on my plants and pretty much stripped them bare naked. My gals didn’t hermie. I got super dense and fragnant buds. I am just finishing my 2nd grow. This time I did prune but a bit conservatively than my first grow. I took my leaves off 2 weeks prior to flipping and three weeks after the flip. My gals don’t seem to mind.
My point is your gals will be fine and your lower parts of the plant will be thankful that they are receiving more lights and will reward you by providing bigger nugs.

2nd led soil grow. End approaching

  18. I posted this in my journal awhile back

Here is a pic before defoliation, about a week into flower. (I usually do before flipping but I was lazy this time)
