I was using my friends guy to pickup a quarter, cause my guy went MIA all of a sudden. I got to his house and me and my friend go in together, and the dealer shows me the bud and it doesn't look too promising. Not mids, but not dank... So I pull out my wallet, grab a $5... and say "yea man, I don't think I want any... but sorry for wasting your time, take this 5." the guy gives me a dirty look and my friend bitches me out.... I wound up getting 7.3 grams of nice bud from somebody else for $85 (which is extremely decent on Long Island) So I'm happy right now... but did I do anything wrong...?
Well if your friend goes to this guy exclusively, then he might be pissed. That's up to your friend though...but if this guy wanted to sell me shitty weed, and I didn't want it why buy it...sounds like you got a better deal and better bud anyway
I wound up picking up (literally driving a middle man ) to some guys place... He wound up not scaling it either... but I took a chance and bought it anyways... and after I gave the middle man a fat nug as a thank you/payment, I weighed it at home and it turned out to be 7.3g I usually get my eights for $55, so an $85 quarter made my week
It ain't you're fault this guy had poor quality herb. I'm glad you got a good deal from the other guy. I'd say you made a smart decision.
I don't think you did anything wrong. You saw the quality was not to your liking and rejected the product. It's like, you don't buy bruised fruit, do ya? I think you did the right thing by offering him a little compensation for his time, and you would THINK this would keep things good. As for your friend, well they shouldn't have bitched you out but maybe they just did it to keep things good with their supplier, an act of solidarity or some such. Though, if they had a go at you just because - fuck them...just because their standards are lower than yours, doesn't mean you have to lower yours to make them happy. Good call for having the balls.

Most people would have just either said they didn't want it full stop, or bought it even though they didn't like it. Buying weed's like any other business, if you don't like the product, the dealer shouldn't be pissed if you don't want to buy it. Especially if you offered him a five for nothing. Business is business. You shouldn't pay for a product you don't like/want. If they have a problem with it then you can always take your business elsewhere.
He's probably just upset because he wasn't going to make the money he thought he was. And he might be your friends only connection, so your friend may be worried this will ruin his standings with his guy and thus why he was upset. But like the others have said you did nothing wrong. You were even courteous and gave him money. It's funny though', when I was in my teens I always heard "Don't like it don't buy it" when I questioned dealers about quality aha.
I had a guy come to my house trying to sell me an oz of schwag for $250 once, after I saw it an told him no fuckin way he got all pissy with me about how he brought it to me so I was going to buy it. Needless to say, he left without my money and I never saw him again.

You didn't do anything wrong by not grabbing any from him. It would be one thing if you told the guy, "yes, I want some...buy it for me now and I'll pay you when I see you" that sort of thing, but you didn't. Plus you gave the dude 5$ for nothing, so yeah you're fine.
